I grew up eating green bean casserole for every holiday meal. Holiday tradition is important, but eating the same old side dishes every year can be boring. What would happen if we took the same ol’ dishes we grew up eating and kicked them up a notch by changing the recipe a bit?
Green bean casserole is holiday favorite in homes all over America, so let’s start with it. I gave my grandma’s green bean casserole recipe a fun new twist and now it’s a Loaded Green Bean Casserole!
Not only is it even more delicious, it’s still incredibly easy to make.
Start with all the ingredients. Drain the green beans, chop the onion and cook & cut the bacon. Mix everything but the french fried onions together.
Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake.
Top with french fried onions and bake again.
Serve this loaded green bean casserole and enjoy with any holiday meal.

I can’t wait to serve this new loaded green bean casserole at our Thanksgiving (and Christmas!) tables. I think my family will really love the twist on this old favorite.

Oooooh, bacon. I think it would be excellent with bacon. I love green bean casserole too but I’ve never added bacon – you are brilliant.

This looks really good. I am not usually big on green beans, but love a good green bean casserole when the holidays come around. I will have to see if my husband wants to help make this to take for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!

Sara,
I really like this recipe and plan to use it for Thanksgiving. Just a question, a family member does not like sour cream so I want to make the dish to fit everyone’s taste buds as much as possible. Any ideas for replacement? I was just thinking of using 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup instead.
Sara Phillips says
You could use plain Greek yogurt or double the soup! Your call!
