A few weeks ago, I saw a slow cooker recipe for Tater Tot Casserole. It looked delicious so I added it to our meal plan.
James helped me make the cream of soup to add to the casserole.
While I browned the hamburger meat, James dumped the tater tots and cheese in the baking dish. I mixed the tater tots, cheese, hamburger meat & cream of soup together and tossed it in the oven. It was simple and delicious!
Kids in the Kitchen: Cheeseburger Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 bag 16 oz frozen tater tots
- 1 can cream of soup or you can use my recipe and make it from scratch
- 8 oz bag cheddar cheese I used Monterrey Jack and it was AMAZING!
- Seasoning to taste - salt pepper, onion powder and Mrs. Dash
Instructions
-
Brown the hamburger meat & drain.
-
(If you are going to make your cream of soup - now's the time!)
-
In a 9x13 baking dish, mix together hamburger, tater tots, cream of soup and cheese.
-
Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
-
ENJOY!
This recipe was a big hit with my whole family. I hope James will do more than the cream of soup next time!

That looks easy and delicious! A win-win all the way around. I think I’ll try it and follow your recipe for your cream of soup as well. I’m really trying to minimize the processed foods that we consume.

OMG this is one of my FAVORITES. Lord I can just about eat my WEIGHT in it though LOL

It makes 2 meals for us – but with 2 boys, I am sure that’ll change soon! 😉
TerriAnn @ Driving Mama says
That sounds delish! I’ll have to try your cream of soup recipe since the canned ones contain gluten (hubs has celiac so we can’t use those anymore).
Sara Phillips says
Mine uses all-purpose flour, but you could try it with other kinds of flour!

My kids love to help me cook. Just tonight my oldest said he didn’t know what he liked more helping me cook or watching me cook. It is such a great joy to have them in there with me even if it is a greater mess to clean up.
I love this recipe idea. Thank you for sharing it with us.

this looks so yummy and easy to make. If I make the cream soup myself, it will be gluten free too!
