**Full Disclosure: I was provided with an Ubooly toy and a credit to the lab. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
James asked and begged and begged and asked for an iPod Touch for about two years before he actually got one. (And he only got that because I won it.) His use of the iPod Touch is very restricted – only an hour a week & stored in a central location – but he still loves it! He really enjoys Angry Birds and Disney music, but he also has several educational apps. So when we were given the opportunity to test the Ubooly, I thought it would be a great match.
About:
Ubooly is an educational toy but it’s also a magical stuffed animal that talks and listens. Ubooly can be customized to know your child’s name, teach lessons (over 20 – designed by teachers!), and much more.
Right now Ubooly is only compatible with iPod and iPhone and only comes in orange. The Android version is coming soon, and soon you’ll be able to get pink or green Uboolies.
What We Thought:
- I had a REALLY hard time getting the app to accept a second name but when I finally went to the website, the problem was easily solved.
- Our Ubooly doesn’t show a face. James doesn’t like this at all.
- The stuffed animal is extremely soft.
- I do like that the Ubooly provides learning experiences and entertainment all in one. AND, it’s easy to take on the go.
- James says that when you “go on an adventure” it seems to know what’s going on and reacts to the situations. (But, when I tried to play with it, I couldn’t get more than a white screen.)
- While the app is free & the stuffed animal is super cute, I don’t know that I would recommend this one.
Buy It!! Purchase Ubooly at Toys R Us for $29.99!
Watch these talking Uboolies, it’s the cutest!
Does they Ubooly look like something you’d buy for your kid(s)?
Paula @ Frosted Fingers says
It looks cute, but I wouldn’t pay $30 for an accessory to play an app on my phone. I won’t even drop $.99 on an app! Sorry it didn’t work out right for you.

We just reviewed a plush that comes with a free app but it is only $10 and lots of fun games for kids and adults. I wouldn’t pay that price for this, but they are cute!

I love silly things like this, totally cute! My daughter would for sure want this as soon as she saw it!
Dianna @ oyveyaday says
UGH! Why is it that I always see a super cute toy like this just hours after I was screaming about all of the toys that hadn’t been picked up? Earlier today, I said, “That’s it, no more toys are coming into this house until you can learn to take care of the ones you have.” Hah
Sara Phillips says
YES! We have that problem (and it doesn’t help that I review toys so often!) … so about once every few months, I off the kids on my mom or husband and hit the playroom with a ‘Goodwill Box’ … but, shhh! Don’t tell my kids! 😉
Dianna @ oyveyaday says
I’m worse. All of the most obnoxious toys… the really loud ones with no off switch that will start singing in the middle of the night… you know the ones… I take those to my mom’s house and tell her, “I just want them to have some of their favorite toys to play with when they come visit you.”
She figured me out early on, but has been pretty nice about it. 😀
Sara Phillips says
LOL! I love that! 🙂 I just take the batteries out of those!

How adorable.
Nicole Robinson@TheBookWormMama says
This is cute. My daughter would love it. It’s the kind of thing I’d put on her birthday list for her grandmothers.
Rachel @ Following In My Shoes says
Hmmmm …. I don’t think this is something I would seriously consider purchasing. It looks cute, but I don’t see any real long-term benefit to having it …. and the price! Yikes!
Sara Phillips says
Agreed. It is cute, but I think you can play the app without the stuffed animal. (I am still having trouble, so I can’t say that for sure.)
Elizabeth A. says
It does look cute, but I don’t see the point if it doesn’t show a face.
Sara Phillips says
It’s supposed to show a face – I think they are still working out the glitches.
Shell Feis says
It’s cute, and my son has seen it & wants it, but there’s no way I’m spending that kind of money on it.
