But how does one plan for a chili bar?
- Start with the chili. Pick up pouches of Progresso chili from your local grocery retailer. They come in three flavors – Roasted Vegetable Chili with 3 Beans, Smokehouse Pork and Beef Chili with Beans and Southwest Style White Chicken Chili with Beans.
- While you are at the store, grab toppings to make your chili bar awesome! We like green onions, cheese, sour cream, avocado, tomatoes, jalapenos and crackers but you don’t have to listen to me. Go crazy!
- Prep all of your toppings by chopping and dicing. Save the cold garnishes and avocado for the last minute.
- Before half time (or whenever you plan to eat) heat your chili in microwave-safe bowls. Set them out at your serving station with large serving spoons, bowls, toppings and individual spoons.
- Let your guests go crazy! They’ll dish up their bowls, top the chili with their favorite garnishes and enjoy their food. You’ll be complimented on your hard work (but you’ll know it wasn’t that hard at all).
For the most part, we will be using disposable bowls and spoons so that clean-up is a snap. What can’t be thrown away can be thrown in the dishwasher.

I’ve never tried their chili, but it sure looks good! I will give them a try soon, because we make chili a lot in the winter.
