In early March, I shared an incredibly personal post about being honest with myself. I felt like I couldn’t write a post that intense and not provide updates to my journey. So, every couple of months, I intend to share a ‘Where I Stand’ post about my weight loss journey. What’s working, what’s challenging me … that kind of thing … as motivation for (mostly) myself to look back and reflect on.
Getting out and exercising isn’t a problem since I have several friends doing it with me and pushing me to GO! (But ask me again in the middle of summer.) Right now, though, I’m struggling with my energy level. I feel amazing after I exercise but after I shower and sit down to work and can’t help but curl up, set my computer down and cozy in for a nap! Also, I’m really horrible about making lunches for myself. I’ve been eating lunch meat with cheese (sometimes on naan) but it’s starting to get boooorrrrring. I need some new ideas and Pinterest isn’t helping.
Thinking ahead to the next couple of months, as summer is quickly approaching, I know that evenings will be filled with s’mores, ice cream and many other sugary-sweet things I love. Travel comes with the summer months, too, and that means delicious but not very healthy meals. I realize I’ll have to be extra vigilant to continue with my weight loss journey. I’m not entirely sure how to do that – other than using the tools I already have in place.
Here’s where I continue to hold myself accountable:
My original goal was to lose 75 pounds over the next eight months.
Here’s where I stand:
- I’m allowing myself a little grace and will give myself until the end of 2018 to lose those 75 pounds.
- At the end of March, I joined Camp Gladiator’s one month deal for $20 with a friend. It was AWESOME!
- Since late April, I’ve been working out at OrangeTheory Fitness three times a week. That’ll continue until late June.
- I am entering everything I eat in the MyFitnessPal app, drinking between 80-100 ounces of water a day and closely monitoring how much sugar I consume.
- As of yesterday, since the start of 2018, I’ve lost nearly 18 pounds.
I am not one to take measurements because I never remember exactly where to take them each time but I remember doing them for a campaign several years ago. I found those old measurements, and while I can’t believe I’m sharing them with the world, I think it’ll motivate me to keep reaching for my goals.
January 2013 –
- Weight – 219.0 pounds
- Waist – 47 inches
- Hips – 47.5 inches
- Arms – 16 1/2 (L), 16 1/4 (R) inches
- Thighs – 27 (L), 28 (R) inches
- Chest – 39 inches
- Bust – 45 inches
April 2018 –
- Weight – 186.4 pounds
- Waist – 44.6 inches
- Arms – 15 (L), 15 (R) inches
- Thighs – 24.6 (L), 26.2 (R) inches
- Chest – 36.5 inches
I remember, in 2013, telling myself I wanted to lose 100 pounds but that never happened. I didn’t have the motivation or drive to even try. But when I look at that comparison, I’m so glad I found what I needed to get healthier! I hope you’ll follow along as I try to do better – for myself, for my health & self-esteem and for my family.

You look amazing. It’s a life journey, not just for 2018 goal. Don’t punish yourself if you have an oops day. You’re a great inspiration to many people, some you don’t even know. I’ve always admired you, this just reinforces it.
