**Full Disclosure: I test-drove the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage for seven days for review purposes thanks to Drive STI. No compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
At first glance I didn’t think the Mitsubishi Mirage looked like it had much to offer. I mean, look at it – it’s so small – could it really be a family car? After I took it for a spin and opened what I thought was a practically nonexistent trunk, it was time to reconsider.
When I sat in the Mitsubishi Mirage, I found there was more space than I could have imagined. Even the backseat was pretty roomy. The more I drove the car, the more comfortable I was with it.
Things I’d Change:
- I’d like to see a more powerful engine in the Mirage. This one didn’t have much get-up-and-go.
- Road noise – it was really difficult to hear the kids talking to me – and they weren’t that far away!
- I’d like to see a USB port. I drove the Mirage for a full week and never did find it. (Hint: it’s in the glove box.)
- I found it cumbersome to get my cup out of either of the two cup holders in front of the gear shift – especially when I was driving.
- I had to click ‘OK’ to clear the safety message on the screen each time I started the car. (See image below)
What I Liked:
- The Mirage was averaging over 30 miles per gallon – which is awesome!
- The push-start engine was awesome! But I would often put the car in park and then think about how to turn it off since there was not an actual key.
- San Antonio has recently adopted a hands-free law, so the bluetooth was incredibly handy and very easy to set up.
- Turning the cruise control on (and off) was very easy.
- Figuring out the air conditioning was simple and offered the perfect temperature!
My favorite feature was the way the navigation screen and the way it moved to access the SD card slot, CD player and map data:
Ultimately, I think the Mitsubishi Mirage is a family-friendly car so long as you don’t have more than 2 kids with car seats or 3 without car seats.
What do you like best about the Mitsubishi Mirage?
The 2015 Mirage starts at $12,995 and is available in 8 colors (I’d pick Sapphire Blue!).

This is such a cute little car and I love the added features that you mentioned. This sounds like it would work well with just our family (2 adults, 2 kids) but might be too tight when I’m driving my kids’ friends around, too. I’m a big fan of push-start engines, though!

It’s a great size for me with my empty nest and all. I especially love the gas mileage. I do wish the USB port was in a more central location though.

It looks like a cute, little car. I’m not sure it could carry all of my family members & our junk, but it would be a great car for my nephew.

That’s a cute little car. At that price point, I could see my son driving something like that … which is only 2 years away.

I love how compact yet practical this car is. That navigation feature really is neat and I think this would make a handy car for Hubs to use for work.

Definitely looks like a nice, affordable option. Seeing as how I have 3 kids, I may need something just a bit bigger, but I love the style.

I would love that just for the gas mileage alone!
