We enjoy eating out as a family. Trying new restaurants is always a fun adventure and we can each order whatever we want! As much as I love cooking, I like having a night where someone else does it. I think it’s important to teach our kids to order their own food (and drinks) and eating out allows me to teach it in such a natural way.
I’ve heard really great things about Z’Tejas, so when I was given the opportunity to review the restaurant, I knew I couldn’t say no! My dad’s birthday is July 9th so I asked him & mom to come over and go with us to eat.
We decided to go for lunch so we wouldn’t have much of a line. We walked in and were quickly seated. We all looked over the menu and debated over two or three items.
We finally ordered:
- Me: Chicken Fried Chicken (I was a little worried about the cilantro pesto – but you couldn’t even tell it was there!)
- Hubs: Five-Cheese Macaroni & Achiote Chicken
- Mom: Santa Fe Smoked Chicken Enchilada
- Dad: Z’Eggs
- James: Cheeseburger Kids Meal
- Colin: Macaroni Kids Meal (this one is served with chicken which makes me VERY happy!)
And then we ordered dessert – S’Mores Cake! It was good, but a little too rich for me (I can’t believe I just said that!). Colin, however, ate about half of it! The simpleness of the cake balances out the sweetness of the chocolate (ganache?) and marshmallow. James was full from his burger so he didn’t even try one bite! đ Hubs said he thought the marshmallow on top needed to be torched a little to give it a more realistic s’mores flavor.
**These photos do not do these food dishes justice, but I only had my phone … sorry!
I would absolutely recommend Z’Tejas!!
Our waiter was very friendly & attentive. The food was filling and very, very delicious.
Hubs and I can’t wait to go back (but this time for date night!)
