When my sister & I were kids we would make homemade donuts with my parents. To be honest, I’d completely forgotten about them until a few weeks ago when we were visiting Grandma & Geezer. Geezer told James and Colin that he needed help with dessert and that when it was done we were going to eat it before lunch.
James mixed up the cinnamon & sugar while Colin poured the powdered sugar into another bowl. Each kid had a larger bowl and they lined it with a paper towel.
Geezer put oil in the fryer and Grandma got out tubes of biscuits. James opened the biscuits and then the boys (and Grandma) went to work. They tore each biscuit into quarters and set them on a plate. I carried the plate over to Geezer. He dropped about 20 biscuit pieces into the hot oil. When they were done, he put them on a paper towel covered plate and I took it over to the boys at the table.
They spooned the pieces into their sugar bowls, coated each of the homemade donuts and them put them in their serving dish. It was so much fun for everyone!
We used three tubes of biscuits and they were gone in no time!
