When I was in Chicago for BlogHer, I was given a bag of Nature Valley Protein Crunchy Granola {Oats ‘n Honey}.
Last night was ‘meet the teacher’ night, so I knew we’d need something quick and easy. Of course that meant French Toast! But I wanted to put a little twist on it, so James scrambled up the eggs and I threw in a few handfuls of Nature Valley granola. We cooked it up like normal.
It was pretty good, you just have to cook it a little longer on both sides. Actually, I am not entirely certain the kids even tasted the granola!
How do you enhance your version of French Toast?
Did you have fun in the “kitchen” this week? Did you try a new food or a new kid friendly restaurant? Did your little ones use their snacks to count to 10? We invite you to share your experiences, photos, stories or recipes that include your #kidsinthekitchen!
Come join me and my co-hosts, Melinda at Look What Mom Found and Paula at Frosted Fingers, each week by linking up a post, new or old, that features the theme Kids in the Kitchen. It doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are doing it together, enjoying it and learning something along the way.
- preparing healthy snacks
- having a tea party
- counting skills with m&ms
- pouring from measuring cups
- discovering a local restaurant that your kids love
- creating new family friendly recipes

Oh, yummy! My girls are always asking for french toast. This makes a nice twist.
How fun is this 🙂 I love how you combined the two.
Yum. What a great idea.
ohhh I’ve not thought of putting granola in french toast.
What a great idea. I may try this tomorrow … we do love french toast.
It would also work really well for baked french toast.
Maybe even better for baked french toast!
I love this idea, great way to make french toast a little more nutritious.
That’s cool! I never thought to mix anything with French Toast.
Ooh yum! I love french toast but never even though about including granola!
Oh my holy yum! This looks incredibly good and I’m making it in the a.m.!
I love sneaking extra foods that my girls don’t suspect into dishes. They end up loving certain things that they might not have tried otherwise.
That looks really good!
My kids would totally love this as they love french toast!
My kids may enjoy this, but I know I would for sure. I add vanilla and nutmeg to my mixture and the whole family loves it. French toast is a big hit in our home. Thanks for giving me an idea to change it up some.
Oh yes, vanilla and nutmeg are my “secret ingredients” (they are only secret from my kids).
