Several years ago I found cat nip sticks on clearance after Halloween. Our cats adored them but we only have one left and it’s starting to look pretty pathetic! I’ve looked for replacements for awhile but I’ve had no luck in finding more. But because our pets are just like family to us, I wanted to replace their favorite toys so I decided to make my own DIY Cat Toys.

How to Make Irresistible DIY Cat Toys –

Supplies:

• 1/8 yard thick, canvas-like material
• 1/8 yard iron-on interfacing
• Catnip
• Straw
• Sewing machine
• Scissors

Directions:

1. Cut the fabric into 5 1/2 inch tall x 2 1/2 inch wide rectangles.
2. Cut the interfacing to the same size.
3. Iron interfacing onto fabric as directed on the package.
4. Fold fabric in half. (Note: This method will leave unfinished edges. If you want finished edges, fold the fabric inside out before stitching and turn right side out before filling.)
5. Stitch 2 of the 3 sides closed.
6. Using a straw as a funnel, add catnip to the toy.
7. Sew the opening closed.
8. Let your cats have fun!
9. Store extras in an air-tight container.

Our cats are just as captivated by my DIY Cat Toys as they were with the store bought cat nip sticks!
