**Full Disclosure: I am being compensated by Happy Family to tell you a funny feeding story as part of the Stories from the Bright Side campaign. The story (and all opinions) are my own.
As parents, I am sure we’ve all had interesting meals with our kids. Meals that resulted in a funny story. Funny stories that our kids don’t necessarily like to hear anymore (not that that has happened here or anything!)
We got Frank (our heavy-duty cat) when James was about 6 months old. Every time we’d feed James, Frank would jump up on the table next to the high chair and try to bite our wrists as we were spooning food in James’ mouth. Frank quickly learned that this was not acceptable behavior and stopped.
About four years later, Colin was in beginning stages of baby food. His favorite place to eat was his bouncy chair on the floor (so that he could see James). I’d put a bib on Colin, get the food, spoon & wash cloth and sit directly in front of him. On the day we started carrots, Frank started poking around. He’d put his paws up on the seat and start sniffing Colin’s head. Then his cheeks, fingers and finally he’d run off. A few days later Colin was eating carrots, Frank jumped up and started licking his bib!! I was a little appalled but it was too funny. From then on out, every time Colin finished a package of carrots, Frank got a lick or two from the bowl.
Do you like telling stories about the fun and crazy things your kids do (or did)? Every parent has had food thrown at them, experienced temper-tantrums, and/or received flat-out refusal to eat something at some point in their parenting career.
Bring some of these moments to life by sharing your own video, story and image with “Stories from the Bright Side” on the Happy Family Facebook page! All submissions will be judged by a panel from Happy Family for a chance to win a $20,000 towards college.

I thought it was weird that my dog likes carrots. A carrot eating cat is funny!
Colin was such a cutie – well still is, but you know what I mean.
Kelly @ A Girl Worth Saving says
Our dog will eat anything that our son eats, lol. We loved Happy Baby food when the Little was younger.

That’s too cute! I think my favorite feeding story of Nick comes from a few months ago. I had made popcorn shrimp for dinner and he wanted to try some so bad. I gave him one little one with the warning of, “you’re not going to like it,” but he had other ideas. He ended up eating almost half of my popcorn shrimp that night!
Sara Phillips says
I love it! Has he eaten it since?
Elizabeth (Rock-A-Bye Parents) says
Yes! He’s a picky eater, but he still loves popcorn shrimp, so we eat it almost every week!
Sara Phillips says
Awesome!
Katie says
that’s way too cute about Frank!
Kait says
My son used to eat everything as a baby! He loved it all and couldn’t get enough! Now the kid is so picky it drives me nuts! Lately his kick is cheese and pretzels and he’ll only eat mac and cheese if it’s shapes…oye.
Kelly @ Texas Type A Mom says
My youngest daughter and our dog are BFFs! They share a love for the same food – he even shares his with her. Ick!
Shell Feis says
Haha that’s too cute! What a random thing for a kitty to like.
Annie @ mama dweeb says
LOL!! That kitty was like, “where are MY carrots? Hey, pay attention to ME!” oh cats……
