**Full Disclosure: I received a Chuck E. Cheese guest pass in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
Books and reading are critically important for kids from the get-go. We have shelves and shelves of books – most of which are children’s books – because I think children’s books are adorable but also because I wanted my boys to have a huge selection of reading material.
I like when I can find storytime events like Reading with Chuck E. at Chuck E. Cheese locations. My boys are both still in school so I headed to the Reading with Chuck E. event solo. Except I went on the wrong day (Thursday rather than Tuesday) so I didn’t get to experience the reading first hand.
About Reading with Chuck E.:
Chuck E. Cheese’s is partnering with HarperCollins Publishers, the second largest book publisher in the world, for weekly “I Can Read: Reading With Chuck E.” events at all Chuck E. Cheese’s locations in May and June. Chuck E. Cheese and a cast member will lead the reading of the selected book every Tuesday beginning in May at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The book for the month of May is Danny and the Dinosaur, the story of a boy who meets a prehistoric playmate in a museum. The dinosaur comes to life and the two friends encounter extraordinary adventures together. For June, Reading with Chuck E. will feature A Green Green Garden. Little Critter and his family plant and grow their own fruits and vegetables to prepare a delicious dinner. Both books are members of the “I Can Read!” series, the premier line of beginning readers books that are approved for all ages.
Chuck E. Cheese’s wants to reward young bookworms for reading everyday by providing 5 free tokens to guests that keep track of their reading through the Reading Rewards Calendar, which can be downloaded from chuckecheese.com/activities. Once the calendar is full, bring it to the store and redeem it for the prize (tokens).
My youngest would love Reading with Chuck E., so we’ll go back and hear A Green, Green Garden after school’s out. I think Reading with Chuck E. is a great idea to get kids interested in hearing stories as well as motivating them to try to read on their own. My kiddo is a pretty strong reader, but I am hoping hearing Chuck E. Cheese will encourage him to continue practicing through the summer months!
Would you take your kids to Reading with Chuck E.?
