You’ve just finished a box of Star Wars cereal. Do you throw the empty box in the recycle bin or create something fun with it? We usually toss the box in the recycle bin. But because we had special Star Wars cereal, I thought it might be fun to make a DIY Cereal Box Light Saber!
What You’ll Need:
- Empty cereal box
- Construction paper (or scrapbooking paper, etc.)
- Silver Duct Tape
- Black Permanent Marker
Directions:
- Cut open the cereal box so it lays flat.
- Cut off the flaps.
- Starting at one end, roll it so it looks like a paper towel roll.
- Wrap Duct Tape around the bottom half (-ish) of the roll.
- Roll up the colored paper and put it in the center of the cereal box roll.
- Draw the buttons on the Duct Tape.
- Let your kids play until they need a new one!
So much fun, am I right?!

Well, normally I use them for fire starter in our fire pit or I recycle them.
Never thought to make the kids a light saber with them.
Our kids are HUGE star wars fans so this would be a hit.
Too much fun!

Please don’t shoot me, but I usually just recycle my old boxes. Yikes! On the flip side, I like the way that you recycled/re-purpose your boxes.

If you had said you trashed them I might have been upset, but since you recycle, you are good in my book!

My kids love this cereal! It’s so fun to see in their bowl. I never would have thought about making a light saber out of the box, though. Great idea!
