I start my list of Christmas present ideas early in the year – usually by about February. But I never worry about creative gifts for my cats until a few weeks before Christmas because they are pretty easy to shop for. So when I was asked to visit Walgreens and put together a pet stocking, I couldn’t help but say YES!
It was easy to spot the Walgreens pet toys. They are called Pet Shoppe and there are many varieties available. Of course, there are many more options for dogs than cats, but that didn’t slow me down! I was able to find a laser pointer toy, a feather catnip toy and two no stuffing catnip toys. I knew that my cats would love them, so I tossed them in the cart. I had hoped to find cat treats, but I didn’t find any.
When I got home with the pet gifts, I couldn’t wait to assemble them in a stocking! I decided to leave the toys in their packaging so that it seemed a little fuller. I was so happy with the way the stocking looked, I couldn’t wait to let my cats explore it!
When I was ready to photograph the stocking exploration, Frank was sleeping in my husband’s chair. I tried to put it next to him, but Frank freaked out and ran off. A few tries later, he let me put the stocking next to him. It was fun to watch him sniff out the feather cat nip toy and try to get it.
I’ve never purchased Walgreens Pet Shoppe toys before, but I’ll definitely be going back for more – and not just during the holidays!
I took the feather toy out of the stocking and popped it off the package. Frank had a great time chasing it around the house for awhile. I took the no stuffing toys off their packaging and Louie took hold of those. I haven’t seen them since! (I am sure they are under the couch.)
Taking the time to make stockings for my pets makes me feel like I am doing something special for them. Walgreens Pet Shoppe makes buying toys for those moments easy.
Do you make stockings for your pets?
Angie Bailey says
We have 8 6-week-old puppies and I saw a stocking at Walmart full of dog toys that I wanted to get them to share but my boyfriend was afraid they were too young. I might just have to sneak and buy it when he’s not looking, lol.
Sara Phillips says
8 puppies!? That is so fun! (And they can’t be too young for toys, can they?!)
Angie Bailey says
He was afraid they might shred them and choke on a piece of stuffing, lol. We got them some tennis balls instead.
Leah says
Buy the stuffing-less toys. Also, make sure you get tennis balls specific for dogs. There is something about regular tennis balls that can kill dogs ( I think if they break it and it lodges in their throat or something)>
Sara Phillips says
We don’t have dogs, so I don’t have to worry about that, but thank you! I had no clue!
trisha says
OH gosh, a laser pointer!!! Yes, I am so getting one of those. Thank you for the idea!
Cat Davis says
We have stockings for all of our pets and I still need to shop for them. They’ll each get at least one new toy.
Linda B says
I didn’t know Walgreens has this huge section for pets only, cat stuff at this picture. Totally cool! I love the stocking. Let’s hope he doesn’t destroy it!
Mandi says
Our dogs are oler (8 and 9) so we’ll be doing bones and some treats. They don’t care for toys really, so I thought about new beds since they do love to sleep lol
Natalie says
I love shopping for pet toys and seeing all the fun they have. Worth every penny!
Kim @ What's That Smell? says
This is the first year we have a stocking for our dogs. They are sharing one LOL. I actually bought them each 2 toys and some treats as well. Santa can’t forget the 4-legged family members!
Not So Average Mama says
We always get gifts for our pets. This year we have added in goats and chickens…..hmmm wonder what to get them….
Melissa says
I have been trying to think of what to get for my dog! I am going to have to check out Walgreens – so convenient!
Leah says
We just bought some toys for our cat yesterday, though they won’t be going in the stocking since my kids were there! They picked up mice dressed as star wars people.
In her stocking she has a catnip squirrel, cat nip bubbles, twisty tie cat toys and some treats.
Sara Phillips says
Catnip bubbles?! FUN! Where’d you shop?
Amy @GrinningCheektoCheek says
We never forget about the pets! We don’t have pets, so we always buy for our parent’s pets.
Jenn says
Adorable! Love the stocking. Our poor kitty doesn’t have a gift yet. Maybe Sweet T and I can stop at Walgreens and do some last minute shopping.
Nichol says
Absolutely! I have to keep the stocking hidden though, because my cats will tear into before the morning. I love your cat stocking, adorable!
Jayme says
My son just recently rescued a kitten from the storm drain under the sidewalk… we haven’t had a pet until now- maybe we should do a little stocking for him! He has quickly become a big part of our family despite his teeny size.

I just shopped at Walgreens to pick up stocking stuffers for my dog. I’m not sure how he knew it, but as soon as I stepped in the door at the house, he was all over me trying to grab my bags. 🙂 I found some great deals and I was very impressed with the selection that was available.
Katy Rawson says
Awww how sweet. While I have no pets of my own, I always think it’s sweet when pets are included in the holidays.
Paula @ Frosted Fingers says
I haven’t made pet stockings in a long time. I bet my kids would get a kick out of it, though!

We just a new puppy, so yes. 🙂 We also have a Great Pyrenees and we just get her a HUGE bone/chew toy.

Eek, I still need to put together a stocking for our cat. I love the cat stocking from Walgreens. Your cat is so cute diving into it.
Karen says
Cats can be so finicky so it’s great that Frank loved his toys.
Mickey says
I don’t think I’ve ever noticed a pet section at Walgreens, but Santa will be bringing all of our cats some goodies this year, so I’ll have to check it out. 🙂

Yes, I make stockings for my pets. I wrap up treats and my dog really loves getting these for Christmas. It is so much fun watching my dog on Christmas. I even take pictures of him opening his presents.
