We have some great friends – the Martens – who I love like family.  They both teach in our area and have a love of basketball.  She played basketball in college, he coaches women’s basketball and their kids play in a junior league. Basketball isn’t something I talk about often with the Martens.  I’ll watch basketball with them, but if I’m being honest, it’s a little boring.  My favorite part of watching are the treats that come with it! Two of my favorite treats are Skittles and popcorn so I combined them to make these (delicious) little Skittles Popcorn Balls!  With a pretty big basketball tournament quickly approaching, it’s time to make basketball sweeter with Skittles Popcorn Balls!

I went to Sam’s Club and picked up a 54 ounce bag of Skittles – the bag contains enough for Skittles Popcorn Balls with plenty leftover for munching.

The 54 ounce bag of Skittles were on sale for just under $6, which I thought was a great deal.  And my kids couldn’t have been more happy to see the bag come in our front door!

After I convinced my kids they couldn’t have any Skittles until I was done, I got to work …

Basketball Treats: Skittles Popcorn Balls #ad #SkittlesTourney

Ingredients

• 1 cup of Skittles
• 1 bag of popcorn popped
• 4 TBSP butter
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 package about 16 oz. mini marshmallows

Instructions

1. In a large pot, melt the butter.
2. Add in marshmallows, stir until they are melted.
3. Carefully fold in salt, Skittles and popped popcorn.
4. Form balls with the mixture. (I used an ice cream scoop to get the size similar and then pressed the balls together with cooking spray on my hands.)
5. Serve and Enjoy!

It was tough to keep the kids’ hands out of the popcorn mixture, but I managed!  And the end result: yummy little Skittles Popcorn Balls!
