Pop drove a brown 1980s truck for a long time – no one remembers what make or model it was but I guess at this point it doesn’t matter. When I got my driver’s license, Pop bought a new truck and gave me the brown one. The problem was, though, that in all my hours of driving with my permit, I’d never driven the truck and it was far too big and bulky for me to feel confident in it. He sold the truck and we picked out and purchased a little red car with the money from the sale. I was a much happier new driver – and probably better since I was in a vehicle I felt comfortable in.
**I test-drove the 2018 Nissan TITAN for review purposes. No compensation was received & all opinions are my own.
In the years since, I’ve driven Pop’s truck from time to time but I’m still not the most assured behind the wheel of a big vehicle. When Nissan approached me with the opportunity to drive the all-new 2018 TITAN Endurance SL Crew Cab 4X4, I had to say yes. I thought of it as an opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone.
Finding a New Comfort Zone in the Nissan TITAN Endurance
- It meant driving the truck on the highway – and staying in my own lane!
- It meant parking it on my side of the driveway and between the lines at the grocery store without parking all the way at the back of the lot where I wouldn’t hit anyone else.
- And, it meant overcoming my irrational fear of the feeling of a massive TRUCK.
By the end of the week, I was feeling pretty good about driving the Nissan Titan. I’m not sure you could talk me into driving one full time but I feel much more confident in my ability to drive a truck than I have in the last 20+ years!
Parking the Nissan TITAN Endurance Around San Antonio
The week I had the Nissan TITAN Endurance, I also had a week full of scheduled appointments, workouts, lunch dates, Blessings in a Backpack, an open house & football game for my high schooler and a trip to the drive-in theater planned. It was CRAZY!
If you are a confident truck driver, I’d say take the Nissan TITAN Endurance absolutely anywhere! But if you are timid, maybe don’t take the truck to a tiny parking garage at a medical center.
How did parking the Nissan TITAN go?
- School Parking Lots – As long as I arrived well before I needed to be there, parking at the schools wasn’t a problem.
- Camp Gladiator Workouts – For most of my workouts, I didn’t have much trouble. But the Friday class is always packed and I was a little nervous about not finding parking in the lot so I parked in the street.
- Restaurants for Lunch Dates – Chick-fil-A is usually pretty busy but they also have plenty of parking so I was able to pull in and back out with no issues!
- Medical Center Parking Garage – EEEK! I probably just should have parked in the regular lot but I went in for my ‘usual’ spot in the parking garage and that made me quite anxious. I did fine but I was scared the truck would be to tall or too long.
- Football Stadium – We arrived early enough that I didn’t have to worry about parking the truck. Leaving was a whole different ball game, though. I couldn’t just zip out in my car, I had to be a little more cautious about how much space I needed in front of and behind myself.
- Drive-In Theater – Because we were going to see a double-feature, we arrived 2 hours early with dinner and cards so we could play games with friends before the movie started and there was plenty of space for me to park the truck.

I’m with you – trucks intimidate me a bit, but we’re in Texas, so trucks are the vehicle to drive! I love the idea of going to a drive-in – trucks are a necessity there!
