Kids in the Kitchen: Making Peanut Butter

Kids in the Kitchen

Can you believe we are in our THIRD week of Kids in the Kitchen?!

This week Colin and I spent some time making peanut butter while James was at school.  (It’s not nearly as hard as it sounds!)

DIY: Peanut Butter

Ingredients

  • Dry Roasted Peanuts (You can buy the jar at the grocery store or from the bulk section, your choice!)
  • Honey, optional, as much or as little as you want.

Instructions

  1. Get out your food processor.
  2. Add peanuts (the more you put in, the more peanut butter you'll have).
  3. Push start.
  4. NOTE: The peanuts will go through phases. At first they'll look like crumbs, but let it keep running. Then you'll start to see the oils from the peanuts, but don't push stop yet! Once it starts to come together, stop the food processor, add some honey, then continue mixing until it looks like peanut butter.

  1. That looks so yummy! I’m almost out of peanut butter.. I should make some with the kids.

  2. Linda B says:

Oh wow that looks so easy!! I need to buy a food processor. Can you believe I have never owned one?

    • I bought myself this one for Christmas last year, but yes, you need one!! This is SO easy! The worst part is the noise – it’s loud (especially for the kids) for about 10 minutes.

  3. Ellen K says:

Yum! We sometimes use the honey roasted peanuts to make peanut butter like this, skipping the honey. It’s awesome for ants on a log.

  4. Great idea! And looks super easy! I’m going to have to try this…my kids inhale peanut butter.

  5. Did the kids like it? the packaged stuff is so sweet compared to natural. I have a food processor too, might have to try it.

  6. This seems so easy & my kids would love watching the peanuts turn into peanut butter!

  7. Yummy! I need to Pin this and try it out with my kiddo sometime soon. OK, now I want some peanut butter. :) Thanks for sharing this.
