Early last week, James found something on the playground at recess and brought it home. What do you think it is?
My husband agreed to let James keep it … as long as it doesn’t get out, I guess I am semi-okay with it.
It does look REALLY cool, but still, it’s a BUG!
PS: Sorry for the tiny pictures, I thought collages would be better. I was wrong!
Happy Wednesday!
Lolo says
My son would love to have a rhino beetle!
Cat Davis - Food Family Finds says
Woah, that is one creepy bug.
Kelly @ Texas Type A Mom says
Last month we took pics of the rhino beetle larvae in our compost pile. Those things are massive. I’m glad we’re not the only one with them. I don’t think pictures can convey just how huge these suckers really are!
Sara Phillips says
Agreed! And he moves way too quickly for me to do a comparison shot. James would LOVE to see the larvae.
Marina says
Just got the shivers!! Sooooo hoping my little man never has a teacher like that. Eeeek!! π
Sara Phillips says
I really love the teacher. It’s the science guy that hands out the cups for catching. We’ve had a chat about NOT bringing home ANYTHING else.
Alison says
That is pretty cool! I think I would let my kids keep that. I’ve already told Hunter you can have anything except spiders and snakes. Haha.
Sara Phillips says
It IS cool, but I won’t touch it and if he gets out, he’s a dead man!
Alison says
I probably wouldn’t touch it either lol.
Linda B says
OMG I would freak out!! I hate bugs!!

Anne-Marie @ This Mama Cooks! says
Beetles are pretty cool. What do you feed it?
Sara Phillips says
We read that they eat rotting fruit and sap. So far we’ve only given him cherry tomatoes.
Nichol says
Eww yuck, do not like any type of bug you’re a nice mommy for letting him keep it!
Elizabeth A. says
You’re one good mom. I wouldn’t be able to handle that!
Brandy says
I would be all set with letting him keep that. I was going to guess June Bug .. is that the same? Never seen a rhino bug, but have seen those pesky June bugs. Beetles like that and moths freak me out
Sara Phillips says
Definitely not a June Bug – SO much bigger!
