Last Saturday my family and I attended the San Antonio Bloggers family party at the Westin La Cantera! We enjoyed all sorts of seasonal activities – toy making, cookie decorating, writing letters to Santa and ice skating! Yep, my husband and kids ice skated on a plastic ice rink!
Getting started!
Colin was able to keep himself up REALLY well!
James … not so much!
This is how James spent most of his time on the rink.
Hubs was having fun!
And then Colin fell and clipped his wrist on his blade. It wasn’t bad, but we were done after that.
We had an amazing time and I can’t wait to go back!
Happy Wednesday!!
**Full Disclosure: My family and I were invited out to the Westin La Cantera at no charge to us. All thoughts and opinions are my own!
A plastic rink? That’s what we need here in FL! I want to take my little one ice skating for the first time, but there aren’t many places around here.
I’ve never heard of such a thing Here you’d never get to skate in a tee shirt!
It was about 80* out that day. Yesterday we were in the 50s, I think. Crazy weather!
A plastic ice rink?! So glad you all had fun but not that your little man got hurt!
Oh my gosh – I love those blue ice skates!!!! I want some – if only I knew how to remain in the standing position on the ice – lol!
That is exactly why I was behind the camera! π
I think it’s semi weird that you guys are ice skating with short sleeves on! Hahaha.. But interesting that it’s plastic!
Oh no!! OUCH!!!
And how neat a plastic rink. Super cool!
Aww, how fun
Ice skating is such a fun activity. Looks like they enjoyed
Sounds like fun! I haven’t been ice skating in a long time. Never on a plastic rink though.
looks like a ton of fun.
Ok, Can we just count the things wrong with these photos….ice skating…outside….in t-shirts!?!?!?!?!? You’re soooo going to have to come to Chicago to get the real experience of freezing to death while trying to skate. Seriously,,, I’ll watch and hold the hot chocolate for you π
LOL! These will be featured in a “What’s Wrong” book some day! π
That looks like a blast! I need to take my kids ice skating!
My daughter wants to go ice skating!! Its so much fun!
How fun! I’ve never actually seen a plastic rink in person – even in Phoenix they build a ‘real’ ice rink downtown. I don’t know how they keep it from melting though! The photos look like so much fun π
That’s so cool that they had a plastic rink! I’m in TX too… I hope our town will get one of those sometime!
This one is at a hotel, but I bet the city could make a ton of money off of one! Go suggest it to your city!
I’ve never seen a plastic rink before. I guess that is the best method for doing an outdoor rink in San Antonio. We’ve never taken the boys ice skating. One day maybe, when the youngest is old enough and I’m not pregnant.
what a fun time! We love skating, too!
How cool is that! I want a plastic ice skating rink in my backyard now lol
Kas
Totally off topic – but we had hockey-playing college kids living next door to us last winter. It was supposed to freeze for a few days, so they went to Home Depot, bought a few tarps and 2x4s. They made a tarp-sized “box” and filled it with about 3 inches of water. After the first night’s freeze, they were out there skating on it! LOL! DO IT!
A plastic skate rink so so cool! I’ve never been ice skating — too chicken π But it looks like your family had a blast!
I’m jealous of the ice-skating! Looks like so much fun!!
We went to a Winter Holiday Festival thing once that advertised ice skating. I was excited as I had never been. Come to find out it was a plastic ice rink, which was interesting. The Winter Holiday Festival thing has been a yearly event but we haven’t made it to that again since the baby was truly a baby (so 2008).
Ooh bummer about the injury but at least it wasn’t too bad! It looks like you had a lot of fun- I am SO bad at ice skating that I can’t even stand on the ice. lol!
Looks fun. I’ve never been ice skating although I’d love to try it once but I’d probably spend most of my time on the floor too, lol. : )
Looks like a ton of fun!!!
