Deer season has started – it’s a lease that does not have electricity or running water. I can deal with no electricity, no running water, the crickets, grass hoppers, gnats, and mosquitoes but the stink of the outhouse is AWFUL. The outhouse is the reason I hate going out there.
My husband has been working hard to fix up his blind and the camper trailer (which is about 40 years old) and really wanted the kids and I to come out and do some “camping.”
We went out Friday night, spent the night (the hubs and I shared a TWIN sized bed), the boys and I slept until about 9 Saturday morning while the hubs was out looking at animals.
Opening weekend was H.O.T. It was 80+ degrees outside so the kids and I headed in Saturday after lunch. The hubs came home after the evening watch.
I was not looking great after all that, but here is the one & only photo that proves I went was there this year. (PS: The shirts were not planned.) Who knows, maybe I’ll go out again … but, really, I could go the rest of the season with just day trips to the deer lease. We will see!

Looks like a good time. I have never known deer season to be 80+degrees here in Iowa. It’s all in perspective…….Glad you had fun!

oh wow! I grew up with deer season being cold and snowy. It does sound like fun – minus the outhouse!! 🙁
