Lunches around here are pretty dull. James likes to eat the same thing day in and day out – turkey & cheese wraps. Every night while I do the dishes, James makes his wrap. Before school the next day, I put the same items in his lunch box. A turkey & cheese wrap, fruit, veggies and juice. It’s what he likes.
When I want to surprise James with something new and exciting, I buy a new drink or add a special note. This week, I changed up lunch even more by making turkey & cheese pinwheels out of his wrap and adding a Fruit Shoot!
The turkey & cheese pinwheels are the same amount of food as James’ usual wrap, but apparently it wasn’t enough! He really liked that I made them more fun to eat but asked if I would double it next time.
How to make turkey & cheese pinwheels:
You’ll need: a tortilla, sliced turkey & cheese and whatever else you want (spinach, ranch dressing, etc).
- Place the tortilla flat on a cutting board.
- Add at least two slices of turkey and one slice of cheese. If you are adding anything else, now’s the time!
- Firmly but gently roll the tortilla & fillings to make a ‘tube’.
- Cut the ‘tube’ at about every inch (you don’t have to be precise). You can stick a toothpick (or pretzel stick, maybe!) through each piece if you want, but it’s not necessary.
- Ta-da – Turkey & Cheese Pinwheels! Enjoy!
James enjoyed the Fruit Shoot Berry Burst and asked if he could have another very soon.
