**Full Disclosure: I was invited to spend the weekend with friends at Strawberry Pines at no cost to me. All opinions are my own.
To kick off the year, a friend planned a weekend getaway to Strawberry Pines in Poteet, Texas. The goal was for about 15 women (friends and soon-to-be friends, alike) to come together, inspire and learn from each other. When I received the invite, I made plans to attend because there was no way I could miss such a unique experience!
Just 45 minutes south of San Antonio, I’ve been to Poteet but I’d never heard of Strawberry Pines and I had no idea what to expect when I arrived. Little did I know that I’d find massive pine trees across the property, pine cones on the ground and four amazing buildings on the property. While Poteet is the strawberry capital of Texas but you won’t find any planted here. The ‘strawberry’ part of their name comes from the color of the sky at sunset.
As soon as I turned onto the unpaved drive, I fell in love with the property. It was just so rustic and beautiful! I couldn’t get enough of the historic barn and I couldn’t wait to explore the three lodging spaces. Was I really just 30 miles from home?! It was hard to believe.
Strawberry Pines:
Lodging –
- The Rock House – is a 1940s 2-room bungalow which has the most amazing kitchen & bathrooms and sleeps up to 9.
- The Ranch House – sits on a hill under big, beautiful oak trees with a fantastic view of the property. It has 4 rooms, sleeps up to 24 people and has a conference room off the main entrance of the house. (This is the house I stayed in and it was absolutely amazing!)
- The Cabin – has 2 bedrooms, a game room and sleeps up to 9. You’ll love the little kitchen and bathroom in this space!
The Grounds –
- 100 Year Old Barn – The barn provides about 8,500 square feet of flexible space that can be used for ceremony space during inclement weather, dining space and a dance floor. The barn walls can be opened up for a generous breeze and extra space or left down for a more intimate feel. You’ll find restrooms and a service kitchen in the barn.
- The Lawn – is lush and expansive, allowing for lawn games, socializing and stunning photos.
- The Dock – overlooks a 2.5 acre lake, freshly stocked for bass fishing, as well as a stocked catfish pond. Guests can also enjoy other outdoor activities like hiking, horse shoes and bird watching.
About Strawberry Pines –
Strawberry Pines is a destination for relaxation, recreation and special celebrations and is nestled among a unique landscape of towering pine trees and lush lawns not typically found in brush country. Located just 45 minutes south of San Antonio in Poteet, Texas, the venue is named for its gorgeous sunsets but also boasts equally beautiful starry nights under the expanse of a wide open Texas sky. Once a working ranch, Strawberry Pines has been converted to a gorgeous venue, vacation destination, and film location.
Strawberry Pines was such a great location for our weekend and I think it would be ideal for any other kind of gathering – weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions or charitable events. For questions, appointments or reservations, call 210-296-1764 or email darlene@strawberrypines.com.
