**Full Disclosure: I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Influence Central for Sprint. I received a Sprint device to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I am not a fan of change. Ok – that’s not exactly true. I am incredibly resistant to it. I had another phone for 2 years before I dropped it. When I went to replace it, the same phone was available but expensive, so I opted for a newer model of the same phone. I’ve been trying to adjust to the new phone for over 6 months but I don’t love it.
Just before I headed out of town a few weeks ago, I received the LG G4 – the first smartphone from Sprint with a 16MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. I decided I’d take it with me and jump in with both feet. I primarily used the LG G4 and LOVE IT!!!
The photos are fantastic (selfie above & game play below):
The LG G4 has 3 modes – Dual, Panorama and Auto. Dual mode is like picture-in-a-picture for your TV, except you’re taking a phone of what’s in front of both cameras on your phone! With Panorama you take a sweeping photo of whatever you’d like – a large group of people, the Grand Canyon, you name it! Auto mode (with no flash) is where I keep my camera – it’s basically the point-and-shoot setting. The phone camera also gives you the choice to shoot in manual.
You can jump from the rear-facing camera to the front and back simply by swiping the screen with your finger. I thought this option was silly and that I wouldn’t really use it. I was very wrong – it’s especially useful while traveling!
When you are using the front facing camera, you’ll notice a bar with a lady on either end. I call it my beauty bar because when you slide it toward the right, it erases many blemishes. I usually set it at about 4. I love how it smooths out my face!
The LG G4 has a great battery life. You should also know that there are no buttons on the sides of the LG G4. They are all on the back which took some getting used to (and I still occasionally forget!).
As much as I love the LG G4, I know how important it is to hide it from myself while I’m driving. Picking up my phone while driving is dangerous for myself and for others.
Sprint’s FREE app – Drive First – is available on the phones like the Sprint LG G4 which sends calls to voicemail and silences email and text alerts when a vehicle reaches 10 miles per hour. Newly updated features include ‘personal feedback’ and ‘parenting mode’ which help track miles driven, and lock or enable certain apps.
I cannot tell you how much I love this app! San Antonio recently implemented a ‘no cell phone’ ordinance which essentially says you can’t touch your phone while you are driving – not even while sitting at a stop light. I put my phone in the center console and the Sprint Drive First app does it’s job. I don’t think about who is calling or answering that text because I’m not distracted by phone alerts.
When texting, a driver spends approximately 10% of their driving time outside of their lane. Unsurprisingly, texting drivers are 23 times more likely to get involved in a crash. The biggest problem: 40% of American teens still report texting and driving behavior.
DoSomething.org, one of the largest organizations for young people and social change, and Sprint are taking a unique approach to prevent young people from texting and driving through a campaign called Thumb Wars. Now in its fifth year, Thumb Wars encourages young people to use the power of their thumbs in a fun and engaging way to prevent their friends from texting and driving.
I don’t have young drivers in my house – but it’s not that far off, either. I appreciate the effort to keep teens safe with the easy-to-use Thumb Wars campaign!
Young drivers sign up at ThumbWars.org and receive two pairs of yellow anti-texting thumb socks, then they pick a friend or loved one they know who texts and drives and share the socks with them in a surprising way. They snap a photo of themselves and their friend wearing the thumb socks and send it back to DoSomething.org.
The LG G4 is an affordable family phone. With Sprint Lease, the device is $18 per month for 24 months. With a Sprint Family Share Pack plan, a family of 4 can share 20GB of data and get unlimited talk and text for only $100 per month. Find a Sprint store near you!

I’m not big on change, either. I’ve had iPhones forever, but that phone looks NICE and I would definitely consider switching

I love the drive first app, how neat is that feature? And the thumb wars little mittens are too cute and a great reminder not to text and drive!

I LOVE how clear the photos are! I so need to look at this phone because mine doesn’t take great photos, and I use my phone so much more often because I don’t always want to lug around my DSLR.
As far as refraining from texting… It has never been a distraction for me. I just don’t do it.

I don’t necessarily want to text while I drive, but if I hear my phone, I feel the urge to look.

I turn the Bluetooth on so I can do hands-free answering then put my phone in the console next to me so it isn’t easily accessible. If I’m expecting a text then I hand it to my girls to hold. They are old enough to respond if need be. A few days ago a friend of mine proudly posted a selfie of herself driving and everyone was telling her how cute she was. I was the only person who pointed out that I hoped she wasn’t driving while taking it. Sadly, it was obvious from the background that she was. She’s a grown woman and should know better!

Such a great message and reminder to our younger generations. The phone sounds great too!

My phone is either dead or in my purse and I hate driving around here (I am not from around here), so I fully focus my attention when driving.

This sounds like a great phone with two awesome cameras. It’s nice to hear they’re taking steps to stop text driving!

I can stand for any campagin that tries to save lives. I find myself text, not while actually driving my car but at red lights. I got honked at LOUD yesterday because the light turned green. I knew the honk wasn’t telling me the light was green, but instead to put my phone down! This is a great idea.
