One of my favorite childhood memories is driving around our neighborhood and looking at Christmas lights. I want my kids to have the same kinds of memories but it seems like people just don’t want to put up lights anymore. You can drive down streets that only have one or two houses with beautiful, twinkling lights. In an effort to spend some quality time with my family and make lasting memories, my husband and I took the kids to the drive thru Christmas Light Fest at Don Strange Ranch.
About lights at Don Strange Ranch:
The 125-acre Don Strange Ranch has 65 years of experience helping people celebrate special occasions. Be part of the ranch’s newest holiday festivities – Texas Hill Country and San Antonio Christmas lights. The scenic 2 mile stretch of the Don Strange Ranch features 2 million lights.
We went on a Friday and got there at 6pm. There were only about 5 cars in front of us. We circled through the path twice and had a blast pointing out things we’d missed the first time. There are so many cute displays! The light tunnel was probably my personal favorite.
If you need hot cocoa, sausage on a stick or s’mores, be sure to visit the food truck!
Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday from 6-9pm
- Friday, Saturday and Holidays from 6-10pm
- Runs from November 27, 2014 – January 3, 2015
Cost:
- $20 + tax per vehicle (Sunday – Thursday)
- $25 + tax per vehicle (Friday, Saturday and Holidays)
