**Full Disclosure: I was able to experience the Briscoe Western Art Museum at no cost to me. All opinions are my own.
Until last weekend, I’d never been to the Briscoe Western Art Museum. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I figured I’d see horses and cowboys. And you know what? I was right! Everything in the museum is about life west of the 100th meridian.
My husband and I started our self-guided tour on the third floor and worked out way down. There was so much to see and learn but the chuck wagon was my favorite part. Did you know that chuck wagons have a ‘possum belly’ where kindling (in the form of cow patties) is stored? Kind of gross, I know! But I do think it was a creatively clever solution to the lack of wood on the trails.

I love reading that they have a nice program put together for kids. That makes a HUGE difference between having engaged kids and miserable kids at a museum!
