We have four cats – Frank, Slim, Louie and Mordu. My family and I affectionately call all four of them the ‘gatos’ (Spanish for cat). Frank is our oldest and he is becoming rather grumpy. Slim and Louie are the same age but they have completely different personalities. Slim is shy (and really, not so slim). She rarely comes out from under the couch – and if she does, it’s to go to the bathroom where the cat essentials are. Louie will lick you to death and he loves to have his head scratched. Mordu is just over a year old and he a mess, really. He is very playful and crazy. But they are all beyond spoiled with toys, beds, treats and even by the food we feed them.
When I was at H-E-B for my weekly grocery run, I also picked up Purina® Beyond® Grain Free Dry Cat Food in Salmon & Whole Brown Rice and White Meat Chicken & Egg for the gatos. I like the potential health benefits Purina® Beyond® grain free cat food offers. But I also like being able to find everything my cats need at the same place I get all of our necessities.
As I unloaded the groceries, Louie came over and tore a hole in the bag to get to the food. I want to be clear in that there was plenty of food in their dishes but I guess the Purina® Beyond® Grain Free Dry Cat Food smelled delicious and he couldn’t wait!
Slim didn’t want to participate in our photo shoot, so I had to sneak a picture. Please excuse the mess.
Several years ago, my husband built cat shelves for our fur-babies. They are as well-used today as they were when he installed them. And Mordu likes to pull the stuff out of the cubbies at the top. He’s a mess.
I’ve been thinking about making DIY Cat Hammocks to hang under our dining room chairs for awhile now so it was time to give it a go. I made the first one with velcro, and that was a disaster. I found some snaps in my craft stash and those worked beautifully!
You’ll Need:
- About 1/2 a yard of sturdy fabric
- Snaps (or safety pins if you want to make it even easier)
- Scissors
- Chair
- Cat
Instructions:
- Cut the fabric in a rectangle to between the legs your chair. Add in an extra inch or so on each side. I just eyeballed, but you could measure if you really wanted to!
- Lay the fabric out and add the snaps. Start with the corners and work in from there.
- Fold the fabric over the bar of your chair to see where you need to add the other half of the snap. Attach the snaps.
- Repeat on the opposite side.
- Snap the fabric into place under your chair and watch your cat enjoy the new cat hammock!!
**Note: If you are using safety pins, just pin the fabric together on the chair. Make sure the clasp part is on the underside of the fabric so your cat can’t get hurt.

We have a hammock but the material is a sort of fleece and our cat finds it too warm here in SoCal. Thanks for the great tutorial, I’ll have to give it a try with some cooler fabric! #client

Okay, this just made me laugh. How pampered is your cat? 🙂 I’m seriously thinking that this is the answer to my cat cuddling problem. I’m typing one-handed right now because our kitten thinks he needs to be held ALL.THE.TIME. This is crazy. He needs a cat hammock. Now to figure out what to do with the dog who is lying at my feet.
