In about a month, my kids will head back to school. I’m not sure happened to our summer but I am not ready for the routine that comes with back to school. James is ready – and has been since the first day of summer. Colin will start kindergarten and he is not excited about the idea of something new.
My kids are picky eaters, so packing lunches is the way to go. The school lunches we make usually include Nestle Nesquik, fruit and/or veggies in some form and some version of a sandwich (or wrap).
These pinwheels (or tortilla sushi rolls) are super easy to make. On a tortilla, pile on your favorite foods (ham, turkey, cheese, spinach, cream cheese, whatever you want!), roll it up and cut it every 1/2″ or so.
Both of my boys like Nestle Nesquik because it’s chocolate milk! I like it because it’s a refreshing and delicious (shelf stable) drink. I buy the 10 bottle package at Walmart for less than $8, which is a great deal!
When James started kindergarten, I taught him how to make his lunches. Now it’s Colin’s turn to learn. When school starts next month, they will make their school lunch every night after dinner and put it in the fridge. The next morning, I’ll pack it into lunch boxes for them. It’s a system that works well for our family!
James always makes deli meat & cheese wraps. Colin is a usually a peanut butter & honey kid, but my husband recently introduced him to peanut butter and marshmallow (which is what we made for lunch on the day I took these photos).

I try to make bento boxes for my kids with lots of nutritious food. Some days I just run out of time and they get cash for a school lunch.

My kids love Bento style lunches. Small amounts of a bunch of different things all cut up and easy to eat.

My son would never eat school lunches so I always had to send it. But he was a very picky eater even so. He wanted the same thing day after day sometimes but that was fine. He loved PBJs and fruit so he managed.

Ours in on the juice aisle! So odd that it is a different place! My kids love these for lunches.
I love the pinwheel idea. My kids don’t love sandwiches but might go for this!

I looked on the juice aisle and couldn’t find it there. I had to ask someone and he took me to the cereal aisle. So strange!!

I love the pinwheels and I’m sure my son will too! I will be adding them to my Kindergartner’s lunch list (which Nesquik is already on). #client

Those are some really cute lunch ideas. I might try something like that for my nieces and nephew when they visit. They love Nesquik by the way.
