**Full Disclosure: My family and I received complimentary admission & a special tour. No compensation was exchanged. All opinions are my own.
It’s been years since I’ve visited Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. I’ve enjoyed the experience each time I’ve been and this time was no different. It’s the same great drive-thu safari I remember, but bigger!
Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch will officially open Tower Creek – a 2 mile expansion of the park – on April 1st. There are eight species of animals in the 50+ acre section: Impala, Zebu, Grant’s Gazelles, Sable Antelope, as well as African endangered species Nile Lechwe, Arabian Oryx, Dama Gazelle, and Bongo Antelope.
Visitors will be able to feed from their vehicle. The animals in Tower Creek are still quite shy, but I am sure that will change quickly!
About Tower Creek:
Tower Creek is the park extension along the Cibolo Creek. Development of Tower Creek began in Fall 2010. Visitors descend into the addition through a new road, which was carved 300-feet through a limestone bluff. Over 31,000 cubic feet of limestone was milled from the bluff, which would cover a football field, goal post to goal post, 18 feet deep. The milled limestone was recycled and re-purposed to develop the two-lane road through Tower Creek, which is two miles long. Over 5 miles of fencing surrounds Tower Creek, which protects the animals from venturing outside the ranch, but provides an open-range for the animals to roam.
The scenery is phenomenal! The animals looked comfortable in their environment – relaxing in the shade and chewing on the grass.
June 21st is International Giraffe Day!
The giraffe twins at the wildlife ranch are the only living set in the U.S.! You can find them near the park entrance. Four juvenile giraffes (ages 3-8) can be found at the start of Tower Creek .
I just love these giraffes! Their long necks and beautiful hide just make me want to stare at them for hours and hours!
Things to know:
- Check the Wildlife Ranch Facebook page for tips and advice. They’ll let you know if you should expect long lines, if there will be a delayed opening and that kind of thing!
- You can bring your own lunch – and the Wildlife Ranch offers covered pavilions to dine under! If you would rather buy your lunch, you can do so at the Safari Camp Grill. Additionally, sweet treats will be offered in the Tower Creek section of the ranch.
- Don’t feed the animals by hand.
Have you been to Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch? I definitely recommend going back to visit Tower Creek!
