It was my goal to update my you on my weight loss experience every few months but then life happened and it’s been a year since I last updated you on my wellness journey. So here I am to share what’s worked, what hasn’t and the things I’ve learned over the last 12 months.
In April, I’d basically stopped all accountability for myself. I was no longer weighing in or logging my food intake. I was still working out 2 – 3 times a week & checking in with my accountability partner. I thought that would be enough but it definitely was not! When I saw my rheumatologist in June, the scale was back to my February 2018 weight. While that number was frustrating, my smaller clothes were still fitting well so assumed the pounds were muscle.
In July I decided I wasn’t going to get where I wanted to be without logging my food and weighing in on a weekly basis. My trainer always says CONSISTENCY IS KEY! And she’s right. Continuing to work out regularly is important but if I’m not sticking with the other things, I’m not going to succeed like I want to. I also decided to increase my workouts to 3 – 4 times a week.
My wellness journey goals for the next 6 months:
- Make it to 3 – 4 Camp Gladiator workouts every week.
- HYDRATE with about 100 ounces of water per day.
- Log my food in MyFitnessPal every day – no matter what.
- Weigh in once a week.
- Give up soda (again).
August 2018 –
- Weight – 177.6 pounds
- Waist – 38.5 inches
- Arms – 13 (L), 13.5 (R) inches
- Thighs – 22 (L), 23 (R) inches
- Chest – 36 inches
August 2019 –
- Weight – 201.4 pounds
- Waist – 41 inches
- Arms – 16 (L), 16 (R) inches
- Thighs – 24 (L), 25 (R) inches
- Chest – 38 inches
Looking at those numbers, it would be SO easy to be disappointed in myself if I weren’t seeing the whole picture. I’m still wearing the much smaller pants I bought last summer. My body carries much less fat than it once did and I have far more energy than I did two years ago. I even completed CG Games this year in just over an hour – I am incredibly proud of myself for not giving up and DOING it.
It’s been SO much harder than I thought it would be to lose 75 pounds. When I shared my post about being honest with myself more than a year ago, I thought exercising alone would be enough. The reality is I’ve only lost about 20 pounds since I started this journey. Of course, muscle weighs more than fat but I thought I’d see much larger difference in the scale. That said, I feel much better in my own skin and I feel healthier than I ever have.

The fact you’ve been able to participate in CG Games and events like that speaks VOLUMES about where you’re at. You’re rocking it and I know you’ll get to your goals!

So so proud of you. It’s not about the numbers each and every month, it’s about your overall health too, and I guarantee you are much healthier on the inside than you were two years ago.

There is so much I want to say about this blog. The bottom line is, DON’T STOP!
Don’t stop going to camps.
Don’t stop trying to eat smart and better.
Don’t stop getting enough hours of sleep.
Don’t stop drinking water.
Don’t stop logging your meals.
Don’t stop thinking positive.
Don’t stop trying.
I saw you at Games. You showed up and you finished! How AMAZING is that opportunity you took advantage of.
Don’t stop going past your comfort level to feel and be healthy.
