Without snacks, road trips can be boring. Especially if the passengers are napping while you drive or if you are getting a little bit sleepy from the lull of the road.
So tell me, if you are headed on a road trip, what snacks do you have to have?
For me, it’s Twizzlers Twists because they are easy to eat and don’t melt (particularly in the South Texas heat). I also love a sweet and salty combo so when my mom & I road tripped to Louisiana earlier this month, I created a bag full of snacks, including my Twizzlers Twists Trail Mix.
A few days before the trip, I went to Walmart to gather the ingredients for my trail mix and pick up all my other last-minute road trip necessities (ear plugs for sure!). Then I headed home to put together my 5 minute trail mix.
How to Make Twizzlers Twists Trail Mix:
You’ll Need:
- 1 cup Twizzlers Twists, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup Almonds
- 1/2 cup Banana Chips
- 1/2 cup Dried Berries
- 1 1/2 cups Bugels
- Storage Container
- Kitchen Shears
- Large bowl, optional
- Spoon, optional
Instructions:
1. In a large zippered bag or a bowl, toss in the ingredients. Use the measurements as a guideline – you can add more or less of whichever ingredient you’d like.
2. Gently mix until everything is combined.
3. Pour into a road trip-friendly storage container.
4. Serve and enjoy!
Twizzlers Twists Trail Mix can be tailored to your own likes and dislikes – but the Twizzlers Twists are a must.
The trail mix was a very welcome snack during the 10 hour trip to Louisiana. The salty-sweet mixture was delicious and it was nice to have a soft and crunchy combination, too.

I love this idea so much. We actually have a road trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania coming up a week from Saturday, so I think I’m going to make some of this for my boys.
