**Full Disclosure: I received Madison Reed Hair Color for review purposes. There are affiliate links in this post. All opinions are my own.
With my mom’s help, I started coloring my hair in junior high school. For the most part, I kept it blonde. For a brief minute (just in time for high school graduation) I had burnt orange hair. I’d tried to go purpley-red and it didn’t take all over so I looked like a zebra. I had to strip it (which resulted in orange!) and wait about a week to color it again.
After that incident, I stuck with blonde. There was no way I wanted to be orange again! A couple years later, I got pregnant and stopped coloring my hair. I went many (probably 10!) years as a natural brunette.
Last year I bought Madison Reed‘s Trieste Red hair color (with my own money) and adored the color!
So when the folks at Madison Reed asked if I wanted to review their product, it was easy to say yes. I used their color finder to see which color I should pick. After eight simple questions, Madison Reed’s expert recommendation was Napoli Brown.
I tried to order Napoli Brown, I really did! But the Trieste Red was calling my name so I went with the deep reddish mahogany brown color.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the color! I love how the red varies in different lighting. It doesn’t hurt that I get compliment after compliment on my hair color, either!
Each kit comes with personalized instructions, two pair of fitted gloves, a protective cap, cleansing wipes, barrier cream, color cream, conditioning activator, and shampoo & conditioner. The color is thick so it doesn’t drip and is incredibly easy to apply. It’s free of harsh chemicals so it doesn’t smell as bad as other hair dyes.
