A 5k, that’s what! And right now, I am thinking it was a CRAZY idea!
Every semester after school starts, our church offers discipleship classes and this time one of the classes is walking (or running) a 5k. I thought it sounded like fun, so I signed up. We will be working from the Run for God program. Training officially started today – on our own – and we will have weekly meetings to hold one another accountable. At the end of the 10-12 week class, we will walk (or run) a 5k that we’ve decided on as a group.
Have you ever walked (or run) a 5k? Which one? How did you like it?
**Full Disclosure: This is me sharing information with you – I was not provided with anything or compensated in any way for this post. (Actually, I paid my church to be a part of this class!) All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I did the couch to 5k program about a year ago and now run a 5k every other day at least. I was not a runner before this and have always been SUPER slow! Even if you think you’re not a runner you should try to jog it (instead of walking). Unless you have joint problems, of course. The fact that I run now is a miracle, and I know that if I can do it, anyone can!

Running hurts – maybe I’ll get there when I get some of this weight off, though!

I did several when I was younger and have walked 30+ miles 3 separate times in the March of Dimes to raise money. I was in cross country when I went to school and as much as I love to its just not practical for me. The jarring is to much for my lower back but I love to walk and if I’m chit chatting with friends we can walk super fast!! Good luck to you!!

Thanks Marla!!

I’ve never run a 5K but I’ve done the Susan G Komen Breast cancer walk quite a few times, and that’s a 5K. I do like running, but a 5k would take some training for me. I should think about doing one tho! Good luck!! 🙂

I’ve only done that in basic training for Army over 20 years ago. lol I would be interested to find out more about the run for God program though.

We’ve only just started, but I think basically it’s about making sure you aren’t letting anything take the place of God in your life. I still need to read the first two weeks in the book (before Sunday!).

I have never run a 5K! So I will be cheering you on from my couch. 😛
Sara says
I am not RUNNING it – just walking – but I think it’ll be fun!
Alison says
Haha! Okay walking I could probably handle. Good exercise!

I ran cross country, so I did bunches of them. Now days heck no! Though I would love to start running again.

Running HURTS me. I can speed walk well, but running makes me ache.
