As you may or may not know, I am going to the Kenmore Blogging Summit (!!!) in about a week and the focus will be on innovation. As you know, creativity can go a LONG way in making day-to-day chores so much easier.
Kenmore asks: What is your most unusual, yet practical, use of a common household appliance?
For me, it’s the {after LONG and careful consideration} … slow cooker. And here is why — if my slow cooker is doing the cooking, that means I am NOT, which in turn means I have more time to spend with my kids. We can play outside, paint, read, play games, you name it! The slow cooker doesn’t warm my home, so I can use it year-round. You may be thinking that my use is not uncommon … it’s probably not. But, if my kids are running around in the backyard while the slow cooker is cooking, I can clean rooms that overlook the backyard (which is about 1/2 of my house since it’s so small!). And THAT is a good use of an appliance – at least in my humble opinion.
Did you know that you can make more than just dinner in a slow cooker? You can make breakfast, too! Oh, and, if you make homemade Christmas ornaments, you can place them in your slow cooker (rather than the oven) until they are dry.
EDIT! After posting this, my husband said, “What about the mircowave?” OH! The microwave! My Grandma taught me how to make sponges last longer with this trick …
