**Full Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Champions for Kids, but my passion for helping is real. General program information, photos and resources were provided by the coordinator for this campaign. All opinions are my own.
I am so thrilled to be part of this Champions for Kids campaign – Snacks for Students. The initiative supports local kids and provides them with nourishment they need. I was asked to find and work with a local non-profit organization to help children in our area. I’ve teamed up with my kids’ elementary school and everything collected will go to a program called Blessings in a Backpack (a program that provides breakfast, snacks and lunch to kids who wouldn’t have food over the weekend).
As of today, there isn’t a bin at either entrance of my Walmart, but I have seen other displays around the store.
I was sent a $100 Walmart gift card to purchase donations for my organization so I picked up lots of goodies! After I paid for the snacks, I took them up to the school and left them with the lady in charge of Blessings in a Backpack. I cannot wait for Walmart to put out the bins so others can donate as well!
Champions for Kids, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Emerald and Kettle Chips have joined forces through the Snacks for Students program (part of SIMPLE Giving, a Champions for Kids program) that seeks to make it simple for shoppers to purchase and donate items children need. From February 18 to March 4, at participating Walmart stores, you can purchase snacks and breakfast items for children and place them inside designated purple donation bins. All donations made in-store will stay in the local community.
In addition, Champions for Kids, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Emerald and Kettle Chips will provide 13 awards, totaling $45,000, to school districts and participating youth-based organizations based on the total number of donated items collected in each store! Wouldn’t it be awesome to see your organization receive an award to help their efforts even more?!
About Champions for Kids:
Champions for Kids has helped more than 5.4 million children across all 50 states since 2004 through in-store donation campaigns, service projects and community events. In 2013, SIMPLE Giving began in 24 central Arkansas Walmart stores and was extended to Walmart stores across 11 states in 2014. The Snacks for Students program is the first of several campaigns to launch nationally, with the goal to provide resources for more than 10 million children in 2015.
They make it simple to give kids in your community the resources they need to thrive – just donate items to the purple donation pins at either entrance of your local Walmart store.
Please join me in supporting local children in your area by donating to the purple Snacks for Students bins found at either entrance of your local Walmart store!

What a wonderful donation program! I wish I had known about this sooner, I would have donated more items. I hope they do it again as well. I love the items you have in your basket too, those are all things I would have eaten as a youngster and even now. Thanks for sharing!

I wish we had one near to us, there is no Walmart around here, and I don’t drive so I only get to shop there when I am traveling. This is a great initiative, none of this stuff was available when I was teaching Special Education classes, I sure wish they had been!
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle says

A $100 gift card could certainly buy a large amount of snacks. I am at Walmart grocery shopping every week and will certainly be on the lookout for these purple bins so we can help give back those in need.

I do try to show my kids that serving others is a sacrifice, but sometimes it’s just so easy to make a difference. Having the boxes right there makes it so easy to give.

Champions for Kids sounds like a great program. My children attended after-school programs when they were younger. I think it’s wonderful that programs like Champions for Kids are in place to provide resources for children. I rarely shop at Wal-Mart, so I don’t know if any of those donation bins are in our store.
Rosey says
We’ll buy and share to the box. I think programs like this one are awesome.
