When you think of Halloween snacks, what do you think of?
I think of snacks that are shaped like pumpkins, ghosts or Halloween-y shapes or foods that are orange or black. Pretty vague, I know. But I have two delicious Halloween snacks that would be great for any party or served as an post trick-or-treating treat.
Last weekend, I attended a Halloween snacks demo at Walmart. They were sampling Orange Fanta, Oreos and Wheat Thins. Of course, I chose the Oreo cookie for my treat!
After I sampled my snack, I picked up all the ingredients I needed to make Halloween snacks for my family. Everything you need to make my recipes can be purchased at Walmart. I found the Wheat Thins down the cracker aisle and the Halloween Oreos with the Halloween foods.
We eat dinner before we trick-or-treat but as soon as we get home, my boys scrounge for even more food. They would love to dive into their bags of candy, but I have to sort that first (and, of course, take my fee!). Having a non-candy option, like the Pizza Dip, available while they wait is a better option.
The first is pumpkin-shaped Pizza Dip.
Pizza Dip (Pumpkin-Shaped) with Wheat Thins:
Ingredients:
- 1 brick of cream cheese, softened
- Seasoning Blend, to taste (but at least 1 tsp)
- 1 jar pizza sauce
- 1 8 oz bag of shredded cheese
- Wheat Thins
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Mix softened cream cheese with at least 1 teaspoon seasoning blend. (I use about 1 tablespoon) Spread evenly in a pie dish.
- Pour as much (or as little) pizza sauce onto the cream cheese blend. (I use about 1/2 cup)
- Sprinkle as much (or as little) shredded cheese on top of the pizza sauce. (I use most of the bag)
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
- Add 1/2 a Wheat Thin to make the pumpkin stem, if desired.
Note: I used a cheddar blend to make it orange like a pumpkin. I usually use mozzarella cheese.
And the second Halloween snack: oh-so-good Spooktacular Oreo Spider Cupcakes!
Spooktacular Oreo Spider Cupcakes have hidden Halloween Oreos under the cake and are topped with a spider Oreo.
The Oreo spider is incredibly easy to make! Break pretzel sticks in half. Twist the Oreo until the cookie comes apart – ideally, the filling stays intact. Place four half pretzel halves on each side of the cookie filling. Put the cookie back together and add eyeballs. I used icing gel, but you could use candy eyes or whatever you have on hand.
What are you favorite Halloween snacks?

Our neighborhood has a pizza party and parade on Halloween. But when we go, we never eat because the kids are busy visiting with their friends to see everyone’s costume. So we eat after the parade, before we trick or treat. However, they kids don’t like to sit and eat because they are too excited so something they can pick on is perfect. I love this dip and I know my family would too so I’m going to make it this year. As for the seasoning mix.. is that like an Italian seasoning??
The spider cupcakes are adorable too. Super easy to make and the kids could help me make them. Thanks for the recipe ideas!!
Sara Phillips says
I use a mixture of Mrs. Dash and Fiesta Uncle Chris Gourmet Steak Seasoning but I think Italian seasoning would work! I can’t wait to hear how you liked it!

I”m going to try your pizza dip. That looks incredible. I’m a huge Wheat Thins fan anyhow, so it’s an excuse to nosh on some more.

That pizza dip sounds delicious. I usually eat my Wheats Thins by themselves or with cheddar cheese, but now that sounds boring after seeing this dip. I’ll take a couple Oreo Spider Cupcakes too!

Cupcakes are definitely a favorite snack but I think a brownie would be my ultimate favorite. Wow, I never thought of putting cream cheese in a pizza dip. Planned on having a party with my kids on Friday so I will be trying this recipe out, I may even make some french bread twists.
Sara Phillips says
YUM! This dip would be delicious with french bread twists!

Yep and this is how you know I haven’t had lunch yet. I can think of how to add more food to it. haha. But on a serious note I have been wanting to try some of those pillsbury french bread twists and just now thought about oooh those would even taste good with cinnamon and sugar.
Sara Phillips says
Haha! I haven’t tried those, but I’m adding them to my grocery list for next week!

Those cupcakes are adorable – my kids would flip for these little critters. I’ve never heard of pizza dip before, but we do always pick up a pie after trick or treating, so it makes perfect sense! Why do we all want chocolate AND pizza? 😉
