I am a grilled cheese lover and have been for as long as I can remember. A few months ago I was looking for a new recipe to add to our dinner menu and my Mother-in-Law recommended a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. I seriously thought she was crazy. Why on Earth would I make that?! It’s not very healthy with all that butter, right? Well, ok, let me give it a try … if it works, YAY, I’ll have a new once-in-awhile menu item!
When I was in high school (and until the day I delivered James) I worked at Sonic. I learned all kinds of things – 1. Don’t order a Chocolate Rootbeer – it’s NASTY!, 2. How to make a grilled cheese … etc, etc. I learned a LOT!
Anyway – here’s what you need:
1 loaf of bread (I use whole wheat)
Butter (soft so that it spreads easily)
Ham – and/or whatever kind of deli meat floats your boat
Sliced Cheddar
Whatever else you want to add to your sandwich
**Note: Mozzarella doesn’t work – I’ve tried – take my word for it, PLEASE!

Our favorite is Grilled Ham and Cheese with turkey, ranch dressing and baby spinach. Did you learn something?! I hope so!
What do you add to your sandwich?
**Full Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I just wanted to teach you how to make the perfect grilled ham & cheese!
