I’ve watched my share of ALS Ice Bucket challenge videos. I am grateful no one ever tagged me in the dare. But one 14-year old boy in Bay Village, Ohio wasn’t so lucky. Three of his classmates challenged the Autistic boy to have a bucket of ice water dumped on his head. Except the three teens didn’t dump ice water, they poured a tub full of urine, spit and feces on the boy.
I saw this revolting story on a local news station and immediately wished there was something I could do to help. Have you ever had that feeling about a news story?
This time, we can help!
GiveForward, the world’s #1 fundraising site for helping people in need, is doing something. When they heard about this horrendous prank, they started a fundraiser with the goal of raising $5,000 for the boy and his family. GiveForward wants “to show him love, rather than hate, and to teach him that he is a hero for knowing that was wrong and being able to come out and talk about what happened.”
With the help of GiveForward, let’s show this kiddo that LOVE is bigger than HATE!
- Share this with your friends on Facebook.
- Spread the word about the fundraiser.
- Tweet with the #Love>Hate hashtag.
- Donate to the fundraiser.
Since 2008, GiveForward has helped families raise over $120 million to help cover their expenses during hard times or honor the people that they care about. They also want to teach people that there is a place to go when we see tragedy or injustice in the world. GiveForward doesn’t want people to stand by and do nothing.
What do you do when you see a tragedy or injustice?
