My oldest son is a science fanatic. He really enjoys reading non-fiction bug guides or science books. I am always amazed by the facts he throws at me!
While James would be so happy with science fair projects, we haven’t had to do any yet. I know they are coming, though, and the only thing I can do is be prepared. Sure, you could use the internet to search for ideas, but why not do one better and use Netflix?!
Netflix has a variety of TV shows and movies that might help jump start your kids’ imaginations and get the whole family excited about a winning science fair idea.
Mythbusters and How Stuff Works are two of our favorite shows! They have so much good information! And it would be so easy to take one of their ideas, twist it a little and make it a great science fair project!
I was assigned at least one science fair project when I was in school. I think I did something with water and its cleanliness, but I don’t really remember. It wasn’t something I was excited about, that’s for sure. At least when James has to participate, he will be enamored with the whole process.
Have your kids had to do science fair projects yet?

My son likes Mythbusters too. While he does good in science class, he doesn’t want to do anymore science fair projects. We did one on soil erosion, which I thought was great, but he didn’t win. It was fun doing it though. I also got to do one with my step-daughter one year and while she didn’t win either, she did receive a certificate from the governor because the project was based on helping the environment so that was cool.
