Five-a-Day Recipe Ideas
If you’re like me and you try to get your kids eating their five-a-day, then you’ll know that it’s not as easy as it sounds. Kids can be fussy with food, especially when it comes to fruit and vegetables, which is why we have created some tasty five-a-day recipes your kids are sure to enjoy!
If your kids much prefer to eat sweet things and you often let them decorate plain cookies or cakes on Saturday mornings, which gives you the chance to relax on the sofa and play foxy bingo or read a little of your book, then why not try getting them to help you with some of the five-a-day inspired recipe ideas below instead?
Five-a-day Fajitas
Your kids won’t even realise they’re eating at least 2 of their five-a-day in these tasty fajitas. Simply chop up a pepper, some large mushrooms, an onion and some tomatoes and fry them all in a pan with some fajita spices and oil. Serve in some warm wraps with a side salad.
Veggie Cobbler
Rather than serving up boiled watery vegetables, why not make a cheesy vegetable bake which is sure to go down a treat.
Simply chop up some swede, carrots, cauliflower broccoli and boil in a pan. Drain and pour into a baking dish with a tin of tomatoes and bake in the oven. Meanwhile, make a breadcrumb mixture and add in some of your favorite cheese. Take the veggies out of the oven and sprinkle with the cheesy breadcrumb mix before placing it back in the oven for another 10 minutes.
Fruity Smoothies
Your kids will love their fruity milkshake because of how creamy it is. In a blender, place a banana, some frozen raspberries, some apple juice and a big spoonful of fruit yogurt. Blend until you have a creamy mixture.
However, if your kids love chocolate, then simply blitz a banana with some milk, cocoa powder and honey to create a chocolatey smoothie.

Awesome ideas! I love my food processor for this – it can chop veggies so finely that you can add them to a casserole and not even know they are there! And I don’t even have any picky kids to feed, LOL!

I’m lucky to have a little guy who will eat just about anything I give him, but I struggle to come up with ideas that fit in everything he should eat. That veggie cobbler sounds really good!
