**Full Disclosure: I was sent the playset for review purposes, no other compensation was exchanged. All opinions are my own.
Colin enjoys watching the Octonauts, even if he tells you that it’s for ‘babies,’ and he has always liked playing with (what we call) ‘little toys.’ So when Santa brought the Fisher-Price Octonauts Octopod Playset, Colin was beside himself! He immediately asked if he could have a bath that night and then he tore open the box.
The playset comes in pieces, but it’s very easy to snap together and fairly foolproof. Also, you’ll have to put the stickers on – do this before you snap the set together! If you don’t, they can be a little tricky but not horrible. I’d say it took less than 10 minutes from box to play.
The Octonauts Octopod Playset sells for $34.99 (unless you find it on sale) and comes with over 10 play pieces including Barnacles, Kwazii, a mini GUP-A, 3 sea creatures and 4 rescue tools. It also comes with a clip-on Octo-Alert (not pictured) that features sounds and phrases. It is meant for kids 3 and older.
Colin is already asking for all the extra sets so that he can collect all the characters and sea creatures!
What I Thought:
- SUPER easy to assemble.
- The Octopod is made of a sturdy plastic.
- The characters & sea creatures are made well, and the characters are easy to move/pose.
- I love the way Colin uses his imagination when he is playing with the Octonauts Octopod Playset!
- I wish it came with more than two characters, but Colin was fine with two.
- The Octo-Alert can be annoying (especially when pressed 2+ times back-to-back!) but I can always hide that!

Strange But True Octo-Facts:
- Aggregate Anemones can make copies of themselves by splitting down the middle repeatedly!
- Humphead Parrotfish have very strong jaws and can bite through rocks!
- The parrot fish can blow a bubble around itself which protects it from the sun – and hungry eels! It can also change colors!
- The Oarfish is the longest fish in the sea!
- The tiny Snapping Shrimp can snap its claw and make one of the loudest sounds in the entire ocean!
- Little Sardines find safety in numbers, traveling together in huge groups – as many as 10 million!
- The Immortal Jellyfish is the only known creature that can live forever, morphing from old to young and back again!
- The sailfish is the fastest creature in the ocean and can swim up to 70 miles per hour!
- Colossal Squids have the largest eyes of any creature on the planet!

Hunter adores the Octonauts! Though I’m worried he would be too old for the playset. Wish the show had came out when he was younger. 🙂

The playset is really just there to help their imaginations along. I bet he would like it!
