Have you ever wanted to go shopping without kids? ME TOO! Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy shopping with my kids because I feel like they can learn very valuable lessons at the store. But sometimes I want to browse and look at clothes, and even though my boys put up with it, I can tell they think I am torturing them.
Last weekend, we had some free time after church so I left the kids at home with daddy and I headed out to Wal-Mart. My mission: shop for Disney Planes toys.
Now, let me back up a few years. Disney Pixar Cars was James first theater movie and we collected every die-cast car we could! Then Disney Pixar Cars 2 came out, and we added even more toys to our collection. Now that we have seen Disney Planes (the movie), we have started adding them to our collection as well.
Our collection is kept in this storage ottoman so the toys are easily accessible. We do, however, need a larger ottoman! This one is full to the top and you have to carefully arrange the toys inside for it to close all the way!
As I walked by the school supply displays at the entrance, I noticed a large selection of clearance clothes, so I spent some time sifting through them. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything I couldn’t live without. Then I moved on toward the toy section. I immediately found an end cap with Disney Pixar Cars toys (on sale!) but I didn’t find any that we didn’t already have.
I walked around to the front of the aisle to find the toys from Disney Planes, but there were none!
Ok, so there weren’t any on this display, but there were plenty down the aisle a ways. I threw all of the $4.88 Disney Planes toys in my cart so I could decide which ones I wanted to purchase on this trip. There wasn’t a Ripslinger in the $4.88 package, so I found a different version (the one Colin told me he wanted a few weeks before) and tossed it in my basket. We already have El Chupacabra, so I didn’t need him. I ended up buying Disney Planes Dusty, Skipper, Bulldog, Zed and Ripslinger. I spent $29.76 on these five toys.
I really enjoyed my Walmart time sans kids. It was nice to be able to look at the toys without hearing “I want this!” or “I need this one!” But it was great to come home and let my boys play!
I enjoy watching my kids play with their simple toys. Their imaginations can run wild, so it’s fun to see what they come up with!
We did (barely) find room in the ottoman for the newest additions to our collection!

I knew this movie would bring with it some awesome merchandise and some great buys for Christmas.

It is fun to go shopping without the kids! The problem is that I am still a big kid, and I can’t stop myself from buying the toys… even when I am alone. UGH!
On a side note, about 5 minutes before reading this, we had to go on a hunt to find my son’s favorite Mater – he is sick and very fussy this morning. We, too, are overrun by Cars cars.

Oh, me too. I love looking through the toys! BUT when I buy toys when I shop alone, I usually save them for Christmas.
