For the past 9 years, I’ve heard my husband RAVE about how great Chocolate No-Bake Cookies are. Well, this week, we finally got around to calling his Mom (and then his sister) to get the recipe. Now I am sharing it with you.
Chocolate No-Bake Cookies
Ingredients
- 3 TBSP Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 cup Coconut
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 3 cups Oatmeal
- 1/2 cup Nuts optional
Instructions
-
In a large sauce pan, bring cocoa powder, milk, salt, shortening and sugar to a boil. After it comes to a boil, remove from heat. Mix in coconut, vanilla, oatmeal and optional nuts. Once everything is mixed well, drop by the spoonful on parchment paper and let cool for 15-20 minutes.
Recipe Notes
Depending on the size of your cookies, it makes about 2 dozen.
**Full Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way for this post. I don’t know where the recipe originated, but my husband’s family made Chocolate No-Bake Cookies all the time when he was a kid. ENJOY!
Oh, yum! We’ve made something like these before. And they are so-so-good!
We make these alot. We call them Preacher cookies. When the preacher comes to visit back in the old days you served something and these were quick and easy to make. 🙂
I make these all the time. Love them because they are no-bake.Yummy!
I love anything “no-bake”! I can cook but I can’t bake, but these types of treats tend to be my loophole! 🙂 Thanks!
Never tried these, will have to give them a try!
O h I love no-bake cookies! My mom has made them for as long as I can remember, and I’m just now getting the hang of how to get them to set right!
I remember making these in my foods class in junior high. They’re so good!
