**Full Disclosure: I received the book for review purposes. No other compensation was exchanged. All opinions are my own.
I think travel books are incredibly useful. We aren’t planning to vacation in Florida anytime soon (nothing is planned, but I would love to!) but I liked Family Guide Florida! I read it more like a novel than a helpful hints book, but that’s because I wasn’t looking at any one specific part of Florida.
In the beginning of the book, there is a history section and I really enjoyed that! (My husband didn’t understand why there was history in a travel book, but I think they go hand-in-hand!) In the ‘Where to Eat’ section, I would have liked to see more local favorite selections. Chain restaurants are nice, but when I vacation, I like to eat at the ‘hole-in-the-wall’ places that tourists wouldn’t really know about.
I think the images in the book are beautiful – they are all so vivid and fun! ‘The Lowdown’ for each attraction is AWESOME! It’s fantastic to have everything in one spot. I’d like to see the font a little larger in those sections, though. The ‘Kids’ Corner’ sections are really neat, too. I love the trivia and information they provide for the kiddos.
I felt like the ‘Practical Information’ section was mostly for people coming to visit from other countries. At one point in this part of the book, it talks about different US coins and bills. I feel like if you live in America, you probably already know what the currency is.
All in all, this is a book I would recommend. It’s full of information and very family friendly!
