My oldest kiddo, James, is obsessed with Beyblades. I can’t say I blame him, they are pretty cool! (If you don’t know, they are basically souped-up tops.)
He celebrated his eighth birthday last weekend (where did the time go?!) and we had a Beyblade party today.
While party planning, I surfed Pinterest for ideas and came across cakes and cupcakes, and then … a Beyblade Battle Arena! Before Christmas, I bought James and Colin a cheap ($11!) plastic arena at a toy store, but I knew that it wouldn’t stand the test of time. (I have seen Colin walk on it so he could get around James and now it’s cracked.) So, when I saw the coffee table turned battle arena, I knew what I would be doing for one of James’ birthday presents.
When my mom was up near IKEA, she bought the $8 table. Hubs tweaked the original design plan to what he liked better. He made an octagonal edge, rather than just square. And used a 1×3 for the edging so that the Tornado Beyblades wouldn’t get stuck on anything shorter.
It was an absolute success!! James and his friends were THRILLED by the battle arena! It’s now completely scratched up and broken in!
What do you think? Would you make one?
**Full Disclosure: I didn’t receive anything for this post – I am just sharing with you! 🙂

I would really love to know how I can make this for my boys they absolutely love Beyblades . We’re having a beyblade party in a couple of weeks and this would be a really cool stadium to have there.

It’s an IKEA table base, a 1×3 cut to make the edging and some pieces of aluminum stripping attached so the Beyblades bounce back.
Astrid says
What do you mean aluminum strips?
Sara Phillips says
You can get them at hardware stores. (affiliate link: https://amzn.to/2Hzd6Q3)

Too awesome for words. My son is 8 too, loves beyblades, and has stepped on his arena so many times its honestly torn on every corner. I paid $20 bucks or so for that pathetic piece of plastic. I will be showing my hubby your creation. Hopefully he can make our dreams come true too!

I love this and have kept coming back to this post about a year now. Any advice on what materials and sizes are needed?

Hello Sara, thanks for posting this. My husband is making this table for a friends sons birthday but having difficulty figuring out how long the octagon pieces are. Can you tell me?
Sara Phillips says
Hi Angela! I really don’t remember but I feel like maybe 6 inches long? (Definitely something to play with!) Tomorrow I’ll look and see if we still have that table.

Thank you. ?

I have a question regarding this. I want to built one like this but like the plastic one your son cracked it had a small sloping affect to the center. Does this flat table take away from any of the battling ability?
Sara Phillips says
I’d say the flat surface does not mess with the battling ability.
