**Full Disclosure: Chevrolet provided me with a vehicle, hotel and money for a weekend getaway. All opinions are my own.
Last month, the Chevy Traverse was delivered to my driveway for a week of adventure. There were plenty of stops on my list but before we could get started, my husband and I needed to drop the boys off with Grandma & Geezer. Then we headed north for the best weekend getaway to the Texas Hill Country!
Quick Weekend Getaway to the Texas Hill Country:
Fair Market – Austin, TX
After a little more than an hour in the Traverse, we made it to our first stop, Fair Market, for a Crossover Road Show with Chevy and their brand representatives. Larry and I learned about the Traverse and other crossover vehicles and enjoyed the most amazing cupcakes before heading out to explore Wimberley, Texas.
The Blue Hole – Wimberley, TX
The drive from Fair Market to the Blue Hole was only about an hour long but quite relaxing with such beautiful scenery. I’d never been to the Blue Hole so I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect but it was worth the stop. It was much larger than I expected and incredibly stunning! The walk from the parking lot to the water took five minutes or so (and that was with me stopping for zillions of pictures!). The Blue Hole wasn’t open on the day we visited, so we were able to walk in free of charge but if you’d like to swim there, you’ll need reservations and it ranges from $6 to $10, depending on your age. I could have spent the entire day basking in the sun and soaking in the view but after about thirty minutes, Larry and I were back on the road.
Jacob’s Well – Wimberley, TX
This time we took the Chevy Traverse to Jacob’s Well – about 15 minutes up the road from The Blue Hole. Larry and I walked a little farther from the parking lot to our destination, but again, it was worth it. We saw beautiful birds & flowers, odd-looking scat and had a good little chat while we walked. When we reached the top of the well, to took a rather exhausting trip down a rugged set of stairs, traveled along a teeny-tiny path to find Jacob’s Well. The view from the path was very pretty but the water was a little murky and lower than usual (according to other explorers). One guy was headed down the steps to get even closer to the well, but they said it was extremely slick and I wasn’t about to chance sliding down those steps!!
We weren’t spending the night in Wimberley so after our visit to Jacob’s Well, Larry and I headed back to San Antonio. Our trip back to town should have only taken about an hour but we stopped for dinner before driving to Hotel Emma.
After checking in to the hotel, we walked over to Bakery Lorraine (my absolute favorite patisserie!) and shared dessert. Then it was time to call it a night. It was an AMAZING day and I cherished every minute of time with my husband in that big, beautiful Traverse and in the great outdoors!
The rest of our getaway weekend was spent getting a couples’ massage, strolling down the San Antonio River Walk, eating incredible food and enjoying the company of each other.

You’ll HAVE to stay at Hotel Emma – if it’s just one night! It’s AMAZING! I love the history of the Brewery and I think you will, too.
