A few weeks ago, we were asked to DOG SIT! You see, some friends from church are headed out of town for summer vacation. They can’t take their puppy, and their kids are very disappointed. However, my kids are ecstatic and I’ve assured our friends that we will take VERY good care of Brownie!
While I am excited about this 10-day adventure, I’ve never owned a dog! Growing up, my family and I only had cats. Then, my husband and I adopted a stray kitten from Lackland AFB about 4 months after we got married.
Do you have any advice for us?!

Brownie is so cute! Hope he is good for you.

She has been good so far! She is very interested in the cats, but the cats don’t care much for her.

She’s beautiful! I don’t know that I’d be able to give her back after the 10 days. 😛 Some advice is to let her run around outside for a bit or take her on nice walks or she’ll get stir crazy & act out. Trust me on that one.

We’ve been told that she doesn’t really like the outside, but I plan on walking her every night when the temperatures start to drop!

Talk to her lots. She’s probably used to hearing her name and being petted often, so my advice is to smile at her often and talk to her.
I had never really had a dog of my own until one escaped from my neighbors and when I returned her they said she was going to have to go to the pound. They had taken her in when her family moved and she went from being a family inside dog to a left in the backyard by herself all the time dog. I said I’d take her, having no idea what I was getting into because I’d been a cat person all my life. I ended up loving Dee Dee more than I ever thought possible and was very sad when she passed due to age and multiple strokes.

Oh poor puppy! Brownie is a good dog, I’ve been talking to her often. My husband thought dog-sitting would make me REALLY want a dog, which is completely false! I like that cats are very self-sufficient.
