I started this post nearly three months ago – and I couldn’t bring myself to publish it. My fear was mostly that a picture of my fat-self would be out for the world to see. But, the only difference between this post and any other post with a photo of me is that this one has a weight with it. So, here it is …
My sister, Becca, is getting married in February 2013! … And I am in her wedding party. That alone was motivation enough to get me moving.
When I started taking thyroid medication, I lost about 5 pounds. But that dosage wasn’t working like I needed it to, so my doctor and I have increased it. Since that increase, I have gained 7 pounds. I feel like I feed my family pretty well (with the exception of cookies – they are our weakness!!).
Anyway, Becca’s upcoming nuptials are my motivation to drop some weight. In all, I’d like to lose about 100 pounds. That would put me where I was when hubs and I got married. I know that I won’t be down that much by February, but that’s my end goal. If I could be down 30 pounds before February, I’d be thrilled!
What will I do to incorporate more exercise into my routine? My church is offering a 5k discipleship class, which I have joined. I started out doing the Jillian Michaels for Beginners DVD. I am now walking 3-4 miles 2-3 days a week
Also, I plan on using you all to keep me in line! I have been posting my mileage on facebook to keep me focused.
So, here it is … my “before” picture (taken 8.6.12). Weight: 227.2 lbs.
Do you have a favorite exercise?
WISH ME LUCK!!
**Full Disclosure: I was not compensated or given anything for this post. It’s just me sharing my life with you.

I love walking. I use to push my stroller everywhere! Just recently I stopped using it (except to go to seaworld) so we walk whenever we have a chance. But I need more activities to keep myself active. Good Luck on your journey!

Thank you! I enjoy a good walk – I am still pushing a stroller, but only because the kid can’t keep my pace!

I wish you the best! Before, I needed to lose 10 but then I gained 10. Now I have to figure out how to lose 20! I always liked Pilates but haven’t done them. I need to get, and keep, motivated with some kind of exercise routine! I’m hopeful for you on your journey!

Thanks!

Good luck to you. I can’t wait to see your progress. You and I weigh nearly the same and are built very similarly, lol. I would just love to get under the 200 mark at this point but I’d be perfectly happy weighing in the 160’s for the rest of my life.
I’m on thyroid medication as well (Synthroid 75 mcg) and it seems like no matter what I do I slowly put on the weight. I do admit I don’t get much exercise because I work 64 hours a week but if anything special works for you or you have any tips for me, please let me know. : )

I would be so happy in the 160s, but my major goal right now is under 200!
I think my thyroid med is 100 mcg of Levothyroxin (something like that!). 64 hours of work a week would make anyone not want to work! I think the biggest thing for me is eating breakfast and eating HEALTHY snacks. GOOD LUCK to you!

I will be behind you cheering you on. You and I are built alm,ost the same and I weigh almost the same as you. I am going to join Weight Watchers I think but I need some motivation. Watching you will help me I just know it! Good luck my friend!

Great! I’ve hear Weight Watchers is a great way to get motivated!

I know you can do it. I am very proud of you and support you all the way.

Thanks Mom 🙂

Good luck Sara!! I need to get my butt motivated and started working out and eating better myself. It’s tough, but we can do it!
Sara Phillips says
Yes we can!

You can do this! My starting weight this week was 216.8 for the Mamavation challenge. I’m already down 3 pounds. I’m going to do my best not to eat a ton of crap tonight. Why do they always do the challenges at the hardest times?!

I am totally cheering you on! And really walking is one of the best things you can do for your health all around, so I think thats great! And the “cleaner” you eat (i.e. the less processed food you eat) the faster it will melt off 🙂
Sara Phillips says
Thanks! Most of our at-home eating is pretty clean since Colin is soy-free. I am really thinking about joining a gym, too!
