A really great option for college classes is to rent textbooks!
What you may not know about me is that I am about two classes shy of finishing college with a degree in Education.
Since I was in Kindergarten it’s ALWAYS been my dream to be a teacher. When I was in elementary school, the neighbor kids and I would play “school” and I was always the teacher. In high school, I took several classes that took me off-campus to work with local elementary kids.
Then it was time for college. In my first semester at a community college, I went to buy textbooks and I was appalled!! (Little did I know that the buy back prices would be even more appalling!) When I transferred to a convenient University, textbook prices were even higher. I don’t know if it was the fact that it was a University or if it was just inflation.
So now, here I am, just a few classes away from a degree … and I don’t want to teach. It’s a really hard pill to swallow. You see, after I had James (and later, Colin) I kept taking classes on nights and weekends. When I got to the “Approaches” (kind of like pre-student teaching), I did them, and went home every day feeling defeated. My plan is to finish my degree – without the certification – because I would still like to work in Education. But, I no longer want to do the actual teaching in a classroom. I teach my own kids and that’s more than enough for me!
I really feel like everyone that wants it should have the opportunity to attend college. It is my opinion that with tuition and textbooks costing an arm and a leg, some might feel like it’s just not possible. I think a better change has come with the option to rent your books!
Why should you rent college textbooks?
- You don’t run the risk of your books becoming worthless before the end of the semester.
- You’ll save money (up to 90%) on each book.
- You don’t have to pay for shipping (coming to you or going back).
- You have a 30-day risk free return guarantee.
I wish I had known about textbook rentals LONG before now, but I will be using this method to finish my degree!!
**Full Disclosure: I was compensated for this post. My story, thoughts and opinions are my own. I really do think textbook rental is the way to go – especially for basic classes!

I never knew you could rent books! I saved money by buying one edition older of my books off of ebay. They were about 80-90% cheaper and the only thing that was usually different was the cover and preface.
