My husband and I enjoy exploring the United States, historical locations and as many unique places as we can find! I think we’ve done a good job of instilling the love of travel in our boys. We’ve taken two-week road trips once a year for the past six years or so and they are always so much fun! The boys can use their electronics in the car, but we also make time for dialogue. These are a few of the great road trip conversation starters for families that we’ve used.
Great Road Trip Conversation Starters for Families:
- If you could have any animal from the zoo as a pet, which one would it be and why?
- What is your favorite thing to do outside?
- What are your goals for this year (or the rest of the year)?
- If you were given 1 million dollars, what would you do with it first?
- Describe your dream vacation? Who would be there with you?
- What’s the weirdest dream you’ve ever had?
- What are your top three strengths?
- What are you top three weaknesses?
- Name three words that you think describe you.
- What do you like most about your appearance?
- How do you want to spend your 50th birthday?
- What is your favorite family tradition?
- If you could create a family tradition, what would it be and why?
- If you could ask a genie for three wishes, what would they be?
- What is one thing you don’t know that you wish you did?
- What is one thing that really annoys you?
- What is your silliest fear?
- What’s your favorite way to waste time?
- What would your perfect weekend be like?
- If I gave you $20 to use however you’d like, what would you do with it?
- If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
- What’s the funniest joke you know?
- Do you have a favorite word? What is it and why?
- If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
- Would you rather go to the beach or the mountains?
- Go around the car and name one thing you like the most about each person.
- If you could be any age right now, what would you change it to and why?
- How would you change the world to be a better place?
- If you could have picked your own name, what would you have chosen?
There’s really just one rule: pick a question and let everyone have a chance to answer before moving on to the next conversation starter. See where each question leads your family conversations!
Do you have anything to add to my list of conversation starters for families?
