**Full Disclosure: I was invited to a media preview of the Battle for Texas and was compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
When my boys were small, we celebrated their birthdays at home with a few friends. Occasionally, we’d have a small party at the park. No matter where we were, it was a lot of work on my end. As they’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten smarter! We book a party at the location of their choice, I pay the fee and only worry about the cake. The newest birthday party experience in San Antonio can be found at Battle for Texas: The Experience – and it is COOL! Colin and I went for a faux birthday party so we could see exactly how it works.
Battle for Texas is located in The Shops at Rivercenter on the Exhibit level (under H&M on the First/Street level). Once you make your way down to the attraction, you’ll spend time playing Raccoon Toss, taking dress-up pictures and more while you wait for the guests to arrive.
Once all the party guests have arrived, a re-enactor will guide the party through Battle for Texas: The Experience. You’ll see a collection of over 250 artifacts – everything from swords to uniforms to doors to cannon balls and more! Kids will participate in hands-on activities like a scavenger hunt and a popgun battle while they learn about Bowie, Travis, Crockett, Sequin and Santa Anna. (Note: Depending on the average age of party guests, the tour can be toned up or down to fit the kids’ needs.)

This looks like such a creative place to have a birthday party! We actually visited the mall when we went to the Alamo earlier this year so I know right where it is!
